Listening to music while studying, yes? no? sometimes? Options

So my mother does not like the idea that I turn on the music really loud while I'm studying. She thinks that it will distract me. In reality, though, I concentrate more when I hear music. I don't know why but I just do. I need to hear some sort of melody playing while I'm doing something to concentrate.

Do any of you need to listen to music to study? Or are you comfortable with it?

sometimes i listen to music while i study...but i'll end up dancing around the room, singing along with my pencil/microphone, lol, so i try not to do it to often.

I do sometimes... I also watch tv while studying also..

when I do it seems like it helps me concentrate more... but then I get worse grades... so study without music

no. because if i like the song, than i tend to pay more attention to the song than my work -or- the task.

but of course, itz a nice way 2 study, but it sumtimez screws mi up cuz when i'm writin or watever N i'm listenin 2 a song i no realli well, i might start writin da lyrics out instead wat i'm studyin....... lol

i do it, but i usally read over it before i go to sleep again without the music

well...whenever i do my hw, then i listen to music...but if im studyin for finals or something big, i (though tempting) keep myself from listening to music cause it kinda distracts me...my dad doesnt want me to listen to music period

Same goes for me unless I'm really concentrating than I can't turn on the music. If it's something else like just reading that has nothing to do with school, I listen to the music. :D

yeah i always do. sure i end up singing into my pencil and dancing on my bed... but what the hell. all in good fun right? why waste life being bored? lol

Never when I'm studying. I need my full concentration on that. I can always listen when I do homework though

yea.. i just need to listen to music to concentrate.. like.. i hear the song but i end up studying harder and memorizing things more easily.

yea all the time, and i watch tv to help me concentrate ( on the tv ). then i find out the next day that i had a fail on my assigment beacue i never finished it.
