Seeing your abs is really about your diet and not about how many times a week you work them. Besides, squats and deadlifts and those movements work abs and core muscles hard. For each ab exercise do 15 - 25 reps. Take three secods on the way up and four on the way down. If you don't think this is harder than doing 50 reps try it once. I never use added resistance when I train abs because I dont want a big blocky look. I also like to think of being a boxer. Breathe out all your air at the peak contraction and hold it at the top, tightening everything like your going to get hit in the gut, before inhaling and coming back to the start. Make sure to add variety to your ab exercises. A lot of people dont realize that just one exercise for most body parts simply won't cut it, unless you want a simple looking body with simple look muscles. Aerobic training also help your abs become more visible.

Also, remember that you have to have low body fat for your abs to show. If you're flabby, no matter how much muscle there is underneath it won't be visible.

I've had a flat stomach for over 6 years, and you wanna know my secret?

Do ya....?

DO YA?!?!?!?!

Okees! I do 'bout 500 - 1000 different ab exercises bout 5-6 days a week.

But since you are probably not at that stage yet tongue.gif here are some tips to getting started.

1) Focus on the form and breathing, not how many you do. I need to do so many because my stomach is so strong, it takes that many to start feeling a burn. So the trick to getting the burn soon is to exhale and hold when you're flexing your abs. 20 properly done crunches are more effective than 150 sloppy crunches. Trust me.

2) Regular sit-ups, crunches, will only target specific areas of your stomach. So you need to have a variety of exercises to target the entire abdominal area and get the stomach you want. Here I've included a couple of the exercises that target the hardest-to-get-toned areas of your stomach.

A) Oblique crunches - Targets: Sides of your stomach. Start by laying on your side. Prop your head up with your hand, your elbow touching the floor. Put your other arm with the hand touching the top of your head, so it makes a ->- shape. Now, take your outermost leg and raise it up to about a 60 degree angle, raising your arms and head up with it. MAKE SURE YOU EXHALE WHEN YOU DO THAT! Hold it for about 3 seconds, then slowly lower back down to resting position. Do that 10 times for that side, then switch sides. Do that move for 2 reps each side.

B) Forgot-The-Name-Of-The-Move-But-Oh-Well - Targets: Lower Abs. This is the hardest area to target, and this is the only move I do that really tones your abs in this area. Lay down on the floor. Raise your legs about 6 inches off the ground, and flex your stomach. Slowly raise your legs up to form a 90 degree angle. Exhale, and slowly lower your legs back down to the resting position (6 inches above the ground.) Yeah, it sounds killer. And it is. Which is why you need to start off with 1 rep of 20 a day.

Start off doing these about 4 times a week. Remember, you can do as many crunches as you want, but if you have no cardio in your work-out, your effort will go to waste. So make sure you're doing some sort of cardio 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week, to see minimal results. Also, make sure you're drinking PLENTY of water! You'd be surprised how much faster you get abs when you drink water happy.gif

Hopefully that will help you out a bit. If you got anymore questions, please feel free to ask me. Good luck!

Im going to be honest...some guys are just born with good shaped abs! You don't need abs to inpress girls, if thats what you want them for. Because if you work out like you say you do then your in shape and thats all that matters... The person has to like you for you not what you look like...remember that
