Get rid of the virus first. Once it's gone you'll most likely have notepad again. Try reformatting your computer too. Save all your important files though.

Do virus scans every once in a while.

Actually, I have this thing..

Where I download this really small program and it's notepad, but u can get it on the itnernet. My notepad stopped working so I got that and it started working again. If you want, I can send it to u.

if notepad don't work. just reinstall window xp. First,reformat then reinstall. If u have two harddrives, make sure u scan both of them after you install window xp on your primary and scan your secondary harddrive or it can resurface. U should also dl some antivirus and use a firewall to make sure u don't get one again.

tried reformatting it, and deleting it. it doesnt work. still there. and is the program ur talking about is EditPad? Well give me a link to spybot search and destroy maybe that will help.

You know there are better programs than notepad. Try using dreamweaver for text editing.

I've had a similar problem, and when I deleted the virus, the notepad disappeared along with it. u dont need to reinstall or reformat anything...there is always a way to delete the virus alone. just download Notepad.exe by clicking here and put it in C:/WINDOWS/System32. you might need to go to Tools<Internet Options<Programs and adjust the HTML Editor. after that, you should be able to view source and have notepad up and running again.

Dreamweaver will never replace notepad...how long does it take to load notepad compared to dreamweaver? definitely inconvenient.

try downloading "KillBox"...it'll delete lots of those undeletable files, including viruses.

Just download it again.. U know what? After I started using it for like a week, everything that used to be NotePad started working again. If it's a virus, delete the NotePad file containing the virus then reinstall it again. U don't have to reformat unless alot of files were attacked and u can't stop it by deleting 1 file.

or go through the control panel and go to "add or remove programs" and go to the componets thing on the side and unistall it there and reinstall it in the same place..

Agreed. I love Editpad for editing, it makes life so much easier. I think you're talking about the tabs, so you can have multiple files open at once in one browser and just tab through.
