Who says its the most lyrically demanding music genre out there? You? hmm, thats not very convincing.

And most of my bands are underground too. I dont really listen to any mainstream, and most of my favorite bands I guarantee YOU havent heard of either. So dont try to throw that in my face... btw, im not trying to fight with you about this, im just stating my oppinions. lol.

Give me a genre that could possibly be more lyrically demanding, and I'll do my best to convince you..

You see, your hooked on rap and hip hop, just like im hooked on metal and sh!t. Theres no way of you convincing me, and theres no way of me convincing you, therefore, I am arguing no more.

look up some cradle of filth lyrics (they're metal). it's like edgar allen poe shyte.

i'm not saying that rap isn't hard, i'm just saying that lyrics don't really very from genre to genre. they could be good or could be bad.

i think something that factors into people not liking metal is because of the fact that it isnt that popular and its not "trendy" most people like to go with the crowd like at school and stuff like that

Ok, its lyric time. If this is a little long... deal with it people.

Cannae - Pretty Noise
QUOTE
One out of a million, they don't see me. I am to this world as a raindrop is
to your forehead. Suppressed only by myself. I need to let me out, out of the
sky falling. Time and mind seperated only by night and day. They all seem the
same to me, no matter what anyone might say, I will never what I want,
"free", like addiction I must come back to this. Endless loops of creativity,
creatively sitting alone.

Old Man's Child - Agony of Fallen Grace
QUOTE
Spread the words no time to dwell
Stop denying your inner self
Forced into a religious cell
The agony of fallen grace
At once, come forth
Deny the facts of life
Destroy their gods
And blame it on the weak
Several miles of death's formation
They march towards his grace
To the cliffs and the abyss of the damned
The loss of man, and fall of God
And now you will die
While suffering from within
The aspire to rule
Will faint away with you
We come for you
With the devil's assent
Creeping up from behind
Tearing you down

Cradle of Filth - Dusk And Her Embrace (partial)
QUOTE
When the sun has wept upon the waveless lake
And the mists steal in with ease
Covened wolves are their eerie dissonant napes
In adoration of the moon and thee

"They call as I to thee...."

And I will come, as if in dream
My languid, dark and lustrous Malaresian Queen
Of vengeful, ancient breed
Gilded with the pelts of many enemies

Erishkigal, raven-haired
Thy seduction haunts the castle in erotic despair
I can taste thy scent by candlelight
Legs of porcelain traced and laced to their lair
Appease the beast on spattered sheets
Dyed unearthly red as sobriety weeps

Nocternity....
She shall come for me

A black velvet painting sprung to elegant life
Like a poignant Madonna perverted to night
And I have ridden from the westerning light
To expend my lust
Tear away the funereal dress
Know that I will escape from my death
Surrendered to the splendour of her sharpened caress.

Arch Enemy - Saints And Sinners
QUOTE
Born with eyes
But they are not to see
Living on your knees
Choking on your spiritual agony
Follow the traces of blood
Throughout the past centuries
You choose not to see
Bow down and worship me at the altar of shame

You strive for perfection
But you don't have the tools
Human weakness embodied
Fodder for fools
Feeding the fear of life itself
Over and over again
And choose not to see

Bow down and worship me at the altar of shame

So you're the saint and I'm the sinner?
You will never understand
You're the saint and I'm the sinner
No - you will never understand

Born with eyes
But they are not to see
Living on your knees
Choking on your spiritual agony
Follow the traces of blood
Throughout the past centuries
You choose not to see
Bow down and worship me at the altar of shame

Just to name a very few.

it would explain why country is in last, but isn't rap popular in school? theres more people who like metal than rap here.

QUOTE
country- singing about loving george bush, losing your truck, losing your wife, losing your dog, and being a redneck
metal- loud noises, lyrics you can't understand, and b.o.
rap- eather promoting guns, sex, and drugs, or promoting jesus or other things (in which case it's really lame)
pop- talentless, make-up wearing, run of the mill blonde white girl also promoting sex.
dance- 7 minutes of the same EFFing beat at the same EFFing tempo with maybe some fills. all the songs have the same beat, too.

^ too funny

I dont like.........reggae....cuz they sold out...yall can do better than naming out dance moves on hip-hop tracks and now you can say it has reggae styles in it....please

on the other hand reggaeton rocks.......

See. And last time I checked, I can also talk fast with a beat in the background. Its not exactly hard, neither is it full of talent.

See. YOU are making a GENERALIZATION based on what you hear on radio. Don't get me wrong, I listen to ALL types of music, but I'm just trying to give people the right information. What smoke said was right though, MOST of rap you never heard, so please don't insult the music based on a thin thread of knowledge. Did you read my first post on this topic? It held an example of profound, intellectual rap. And I do agree that amazing lyrics lie in all music, I just can't stand people bashing something they don't know much about _smile.gif . And thanks AJ for at reading what I said, most people nowadays just POST without reading what was said before them _dry.gif

No, I have heard more rap than you know. Obviously you dont know what kind of school I go to. Anyways, all I'm doing is stating my opinions on what rap ive heard. I just plain dont like it. Are you telling me that I cannot state my opinions? Because if you are, your wrong, becuase I already have stated my opinions, and theres nothing you can do about it now. But thank you for trying to judge and understand what I was saying. _smile.gif

For the most part, all mainstream music sucks. Underground metal is, meh, ok, mainstream metal sucks. Mainstream pop, well, all pop is mainstream, pop for popular, so, i dont even have to say anything there. All country sucks, especially mainstream, not that ive heard any other. New mainstream rap sucks. Old rap, wasnt that mainstream, and it was good, i have been so digusted with mainstream rap that i havent given any other new rap a listen. Finally, mainstream dance, i havent even heard of mainstream dance music, but some trance is pretty good.
I leave you with these thoughts to ponder, and wonder why someone started a thread so negative, if you started a poll on, lets say, someones favorite genre, you'd get a lot more arguing. wink.gif
