I've just had a thought on this subject- no one can really call anyone a poser. We've all been untrue to ourselves before. Hypocrisy sucks. Also, only the poser can know if they're a poser or not. Maybe they really do like both punk and rap. You can't say "wow, that person is such a poser" just because that's what they look like. That's judgemental, especially if you don't personally know them.

Just because someone dresses a certain way doesn't mean they're fake. They could be, but they might not be. I say give them the benefit of the doubt.

(I've already posted in here, I don't remember what I said and I don't really care to look it up. If this contradicts what I said before then ignore my earlier post.)

but i still don't see why people hate her for that. the label owns her and she can't do anything about it. i mean if that the only way to keep your fame and fortune.. then why not? who cares how you look like in other people's eyes.

the point i was trying to make wasnt related to why ppl hate avril. i was pointing out that despite doing whatvr she's doing to keep her stardom, she's sold herself out. she is a poser. what she's doing isnt the real her. i dont hate her or anything, personally i find that hate is a waste of time.

maybe i'm just coming from a musician's perspective. i make music, i wanna cut an album, i want my work to be recognised. having said that i feel disgusted at the way music can be exploited to such a level solely for shallow and economic reasons. she is the end product of that exploitation.

A poser is someone who says they belong to another counter-culture when they acually don't. They're liars, pretenders, and fakers, all in the name of popularaty, poser isn't a type of music or a style, its a thing, like a lie.
Here's an example:
I'm Punk, but I won't protest big business, and I don't listen to any punk music, even though that's what punks do.

When you say posers making music, I suppose you're talking about the newest "Flavor of the Month" rockbands on the great idol of teenage lemmings,

People call G.D. and Avril posers because they've claimed before that they're or their music is, PUNK. Any perfectly normal person can look up the history of punk up on the internet and see that they do not fit the pattern at all. Did they protest for social and economical anarchy? No, they did the opposite, they sold out to big money for a spot on TV.
Thus claiming to be something they're not, makes them posers.
It's not about the clothes, you could dress homeless and still be punk, if you don't mind weird haircuts, whores, drugs, shitty houses, and very angry fist happy people.

a poser, in my opinion, is somone who does somthing to fit in, especially if they don't like it. alot of people i call "posers" are people who dress ghetto fabalis one day and the next day they feel hardcore so they dress in all black and stuff. don't be everyone, be yourself.

and if i refer to a band as a poser or posers i'm refering to the sound of their music sounding like another older band. like hwo i say "evanescense is a ripoff of lacuna coil" i'm really saying they sound alike and it makes me mad that the second band to do it is getting all of the glory.

i just hate when people assume someone's a poser. okay if i like rap, hip hop, and some pop, AND rock that doesn't mean i'm a poser. i'm sorry i won't dedicate my musical taste to just one genre. and i'll dress however i like. what i wear isn't a reflexed of my subculture. if i'm in the mood for wearing a miniskirt don't call me a prep. if i show up in all black don't call me a goth. i'm a blend of everything. and if thats what being a "poser" is then fine. just don't hate me for it.

a musician listener relationship is one of trust. A trust that is that what they see is what they are going to hear. Like if there is a guy dressed all ghetto they shouldn't hear country. When posers dress like punks and then dont deliver it is like lying to the public.
