I like a 17 year old and he likes me. (14 by the way.) But he says the age difference is bad because its "like rape." Wtf? Is it bad to go out with a guy 3 years older than you?

I think he means like if he turns 18 in a few months and you're still 14, you are basically like jailbait. If y'all "do it" and you all of a sudden become pregnant he can be in trouble in the eyes of the law.

I thought in most places it was, like, 4 or more age difference if both aren't over 18 is considered statutory if you have sex, but there isn't any laws against dating someone older than you(there might be religious ones somewhere though)...

Wow there is alot of girls here who are going out with older guys. . . gives less hope for the younger guys But I never know I might even be dating a younger girl when I am that age .. who knows

But, unfortunately frzn_lilyv, there is most definetely an age limit if one of you are under 18, but as long as ya'll aren't having sex and trying to get married and sh*t, there's no problem(legally, it's wether or not you feel it's right that matters the most in the end)

actually it isn't any thing at all. it's legal if youare within three years of each other. I'm 15 and my bf is about to turn 19... SOme people are just mature enough to handle these relationships...Sounds like all he cares about is sex though if that's why he won't go out with you.

The only problem with these relationships is that you HAVE to make it clear at the begining that you can both work with the differences that your ages force on you...driving...skool....work...

Since you're 14 and he's 17, it isn't illegal or anything of the sort. Maybe it feels awkward for him since you're younger than him....

Im 15 and Im dating a 17 year old..when we met I was 14 and he was 17 and we have been together for a while and are completley happy... but........ before him I dated a guy who was 16 and I was 14 and age was ALWAYS ALWAYS a big problem he would make comments and stuff and it honestly made me feel like I was never good enough...When we ended I was crushed and my self esteem was pretty much shot to say the least..

If you two really CARE about each other, then it's okay =D Just make sure he's a good guy who won't TRY to pressure you into having intercourse or anything. If you two do date, just remember that if he wants you to do something you don't want to, then don't do it and leave him if he continues to pressure you.

Plus, age is just a number. But it's tough to find an older guy who doesn't want to get into your pants, no offense to any guys dating younger girls.

it's only bad when you have sex... that's what my law and justice instructor taught us. but when i was 14, i dated someone who was 17... he's now 20 and i'm 17 haha. and when i was 15 i dated someone who was 19. he's now 21. but it's nothing to me. as long as he makes you happy and you make him happy and no worries on the age difference everytime you go out... then all is fine and well.
