Tell me this, Why is it that we are told to conform,
to what the world has laid out as the societal norm?
or Why am i made to be scared of where i live?
because TV has proclaimed that we are violent kids
I can't even eat without disease in mind,
or how I might die from eating to many big macs at the same time.
I don't even do the things I used to love to do,
because I was informed that I was at risk by just saying hello to you.
I tried to go out to take a walk in the park
but the guy on TV told me that I'll be
raped and torn apart and contract the AIDS virus
or lose a limb from gettin shot
because our lives are at stake
from getting high and smoking pot.
So I decided to stay safe inside but then he told me,
that domestic violence has increased within the family
and life at home just ain't the same as it use to be.
So I left,
but now, I'm by myself on the streets
and he said because I dropped out,
I'd receive no sympathy.
He also said that statistics prove
I would lead a life of crime and drugs
because my parents never game me that "right" kind of love
But I wasn't ready for this life I lived
because TV said it would be full of partying
and which guys to pick
and having to eat roaches and live animals
So I thought living life was like being a cannibal,
and having nice cars and more money than you can handle
to spend it on priceless jewelry and keep to yourself
or some bodily surgery to "better your health".
While elsewhere kids are dying from disease and starvation
It's the media, big business thats curruptin the nation
it's the fear thats instilled in you making you think
It's the pressure of society, so thick if you blink
The whole world will pass you and you'll slowly disappear
and right now the world's moving, but I'm still right here.
