I agree with tofumonzter, but to prevent pop-ups, which causes viruses. Use STOPzilla. It works!

merjin.org offers a programs called "hijackthis" that removes all that spyware that causes pop ups, the only thing with this is that you have to be careful what you delete.

"popup manager" is the best popup blocker ever. just checked how many it has "blocked"....over 7600 pop-ups just for me :D.

firefox...well, its good but i cant seem to log in an ftp through the address bar, and i'm too lazy to use "cuteftp" or whatever software to log in one...just wanna type in the ftp quickly. also...some sites won't function properly under firefox.

I used Ad-Aware cause it's faster but I should be using Virus scan. It takes to long though.

mmkay just get AdAware and Spybot S&D...spybot gets the humANGous files while AdAware gets the thousands of little poser spywares.

Also, get ZoneAlarm for a good firewall.
Also, get a router for hardware protection...i forgot which i have.
Also, get AVG because it's the best FREE anti-virus you can have. It's the best because it uses the least amount of resources....Norton uses so much....Well, if you have a lot of RAM that shouldn't matter wink.gif

.edit//the two anti-spyware programs filter different spywares...Everytime i run spybot S&D first i still catch around 20 in adaware...

.edit[2]//If you want a good popup filter get the google toolbar...just go google it tongue.gif it adds the google toolbar at top, which filters popups and you can turn the popup filter off for certain sites if you want. Also, instead of going to google.com to google stuff it comes with a built in search bar.

.edit[3]//you must learn how to configure firefox. It's way better than internet explorer if you learn how to configure it. here is tutorial...or actually, configuration options you can do.

P.S The icon is also much more stylish than IE also.

i'm too lazy to look for it actually. Go learn yourself tongue.gif

Here are some other review links though, to Maximumpc.com, the best PC magazine ever.

AVG Antivirus Review

Maximum PC Software Application Scoreboard.

for pop-ups i use google toolbar on my internet explorer
i have CCleaner (which kills cookies, internet history, temp files, fixes program issues, and erases history within programs), HijackThis (though I have to post my logfiles on comp help boards to know what to delete blush.gif), SpyBot, Adaware, and I think I'll have to get some copy of McAfee *cough*, uhh my Reg key didn't work for Norton 2004 whistling.gif .
I'm about to download PeerGuardian for my Kazaa Resurrection, I'm also behind a firewall. AM I SAFE YET?

umm, actually i didn't really feel like being illegal for my virus protection, so what can i get for free download? huh.gif

wow, Maximum PC rates AVG (the free) higher than both Norton and McAfee. wow. corporate batches.
