The reason America's average high school education level is lower than in other countries is because America doesn't ship people off to trade school or the military because they don't do well in middle school.

Haha.. and its not like the government's exactly helping either.. we've had so many budget cuts this year.. pinch.gif

A lot of good teachers left... sad.gif

I thought teachers left because of the whole social security or retirement plan problem..? Which has been predicted to be problematic since the program's creation.

I think education first depends on whether or not a person wants to learn.

well, our education overall doesn't look good, but we do have a good literacy percentile, and most of our citizens have a diploma.

... I know our teachers were either
a. laid off or
b. forced to quit and find a job elsewhere because of salary cuts

'Tis a real shame..

i think this needs to be a new topic... but:

As students are ranked by their merits, I think teachers should be paid by merit as well. I'm not so sure that is a good idea, but there are some very good teachers and there are horrible teachers. It's not fair to waste our tax money on incompetent teachers.

last year my family and i went to south africa on a vacation and when we drove through the villages we saw these children (CHILDREN for god sakes) who were just skin and bone from malnutrition and they were livin in an orphanage but the orphanage couldnt afford to provide the kids with food all the time.. and we went through another city and we saw hundreds of bodies on a pile and we asked our drive what had happend and he said that those people had AIDS and he later went onto tell us that some of the people at the top weren't even dead yet....

there we were in f*ckin south africa on a f*cking hunting trip being selfish. those people need help, and you dont realize what a huge problem it is until you see it for yourself, i mean.. im 18, i can handle alotta stuff, but this was unbelievable... i still cant believe that that many people suffer, and those children cry.gif

the government officials in africa arent even helping the aids epidemic. They started passing out condoms with the instructions stapled through them. Should we? i think we should support african schools because apparantly there is no helping them now.

I think that the u.s should be as concerned with the aids/africa as much as we are with the war in iraq

where do you think money comes from? if other countries outside of the US dont invest in our goods then we wouldnt be making nearly as much money as we need to keep the rich people happy. soon big business would wither away and we'd be reduced to a second world country.

you are underestimating the power of America. We have more people out doing things for our country and everyone else's that we don't even notice. We are doing so well that the news focuses only on the bad no one can tell when something good happens. The press is not your friend.
