i think i'm gonna get a striahgt perm before school starts but im kind of scared. my mom wants me to even though its kind of expensive. She doesn't like watching me striahgten my hair every single day..so yah. I'm kind of scared to get it done though. I'm white and I have thick, curly-wavy hair. I wouldn't say my hair is like horrible...just i like it alot better striahgt. Have any white people gotten a striaght perm with like my type of hair? Im scared that if I get it it might look horrible and it would last for like 9 months...so yah..help?

i have really, thick sorta wavey hair. i got the straight perm , and the outcome was i looked good, but the bad thing is that you arent suppose to wash yur hair or tie it up or anything...for 3 days. sigh and then its a long process for the perm.. mellow.gif

i got one done a few months ago dont worry its actually pretty good except its really annoying not doing anything to your hair for the first few days...also cz it straightens your hair, it might seem as if theres alot less hair but thats ok just if you always wear your hair up, i dont think its worth it

^perms do different things on different races of people

I'm black and I get a perm, but if it is your first perm it will burn some since you have virgin hair

lol, white girls. I got mine done about . . . 7 months ago. The roots are coming out wavy but the rest is still straight. Overall you get a lot of bang for your buck, and yes even though the 3 days without washing, tying, styling, etc. your hair can be annoying . . . it's not that bad. It's true you might think that you have less hair then when you went in, but like after a few times of washing it it'll start to look "fuller". I say go for it and don't be scared, but be sure to buy a really good conditioner because you'll need it (salon might sell one), and cut your ends before getting your hair done.
Hope that helped happy.gif

i got a straight perm last year...even though my hair isnt curly to begin with, but it has retarded random waves. youre always gonna want a different style than what you have....and its gonna be the same pain in the ass to curl with straight-permed hair as it is to hand straighten it yourself with curly hair. i definately dont think it was worth my crapload of money...haha or should i say my moms money.

striahgtening you hair every morning before school starts takes up like 45 minuits of the morning and will fade near the end of the day and get a little wavy and will damage my hair. The Japanese striaght perm I'm porbbaly going to get will make it stay striahgt and i won't have to do all the work. Also it won't damage my hair and it lasts for nearly a year.

hmm, well, i haven't gotten one, but my friend has, and what it did to her hair was just make it real easy to straighten her hair, her hair was still kinda wavy, but maybe i'm not talking about the right thing...

I'm Korean and i've been dying my hair every 6 months since I was 11 and straightening it every 8 months since i was 12.. my hair's really damaged.. heh :D

i have natural thick curly hair too-- straight perm works well~ but be sure to go to a good hair salon because half of your hair might fall out because the chemicals are too strong.. that's what happened to my mommy.. =T

i got one even though my hair is pin straight.. [my mom knew the owner and stuff so i got a huge discount] anyways, i really don't see a difference.. maybe it's because i don't have curly hair.. and yeah, it did feel like i had less hair when i was all done.. it takes about 5 hours, maybe more.. yawn.gif very tedious... lol.. well, i say go for it... you won't know unless you try right?

It depends on your hair type. I've straight permed my hair twice in 3 years and everything's fine. It worked great for me. Expensive though.

sweetie. I have the kinky curliest hair in the world, and i tell you what, that will fry your hair. I suggest using a straightening serum and using a flat iron. On your hair. A good one, like a ceramic one. they arent very expensive. You can get a good one from target for 20 bux.
