There's already a civil war? Why should our soldiers be dying for them?

they shouldn't

but what are we to do? pull out have have all the countries that don't already hate us hate us?

virtually every country would dismiss our humanitarian 'motives' and become enemys with us.

not that we don't deserve it, if we were to leave them with a weak government and no soilders.

we have to train an iraqi army, which is loyal to the new government.

then we can leave.

I dont know.. its a lose-lose situation..

We've already spent so much on it.. so much in monetary costs.. human costs.. I would just forget about what other countries think and pull out

Because we're unsure of what can happen.

I mean lets say that we pulled out right now, but a couple of days later, because of the unstable govern. they fall to the hands of terrorists... then we'd have to waste money sending troops back there...

Okay, I seriously need some brain juice.. I can't think anymore... give me some of your... uh I mean... vitamin C... that's it.

That sounds like something Hitler would say! Kill people because they're not like you!
And then someone had the nerve to reply to that and say LOL?
What the hell is wrong with you people?

You guys don't know ANYTHING about africa..MOST OF THAT STUFF THEY PUT ON TV IS NOT REAL~as is A LOT of things they put on TV.
And you don't see us saying, "Let's kill all the asians for blah blah blah"
You want to know why? Only a sociopatch would say that..
That was so heartless, and I don't think you realize how truly offensive and innapropriate that was.
I hope you eat those words some day.

Whoa there.. calm down..

The words were harsh, but your response was equally so..

And its not "kill people because they're not like you"; they have a disease.. the logic works.. kill the hosts, stop the disease from spreading, stop the disease.. although I admit, it is extremely harsh..

Listen--Africa is not the only place where there is AIDS. There are plenty of people infected with it in the United States. And all the other countries. And like another one of you said, "People don't exactly fly to Africa to have sex with their people"..so it's not exactly all coming from there.
So why don't we just kill those hosts too? Heck--why don't we just kill everyone automatically when we find out they have aids? No reason for those people to live right? They're going to die anyway, right? Oh--infact "they're doing a good job of killing themselves already".
A lot of people are really misinformed about Africa. "60% of people there have aids, while 6% in America do"? That's Class A BULLSHIT.

There are so many bad stereotypes about africa. Ive been there for missions and alot of that IS bs. Im talking about the people who say africa is bad. Im with suzzette wink.gif

Quoted from oneonly101, who already fixed that wrongly given 'statistic'.

QUOTE
Here are some facts for everyone.

8.5%(a contrast to the "60%") of Africans have AIDs.
North Africa & the Middle East 0.2-0.4%
South & South East Asia 0.4-0.8%
East Asia & Pacific 0.1-0.1%
Latin America 0.5-0.7 %
Caribbean 1.9-3.1 %
Eastern Europe & Central Asia05-0.9%
Western Europe 0.3-0.3%
North America 0.5-0.7%
Australia & New Zealand- 0.1-0.1%
from Avert.org

The problem isn't about how stereotype people are, because, truth be told, stereotyping comes naturally to us ALL. The real question being addressed is whether or not the US help Africa enough with Aids.

Now then, notice that I bolded the word "help". There is absolutely NO obligation to help anyone, except the obligation to our moral values and ethics. We've been helping Africa by ways of education, information, treatment, sending our doctors, nurses, volunteers, and med interns there... etc

What more can we do? Give the country a certain percentage of our yearly income? Or what's even more ludicris: give one billion dollars because some said we have to, compare to most of Europe who contributes with that very same amount.

The USA (1 country)=$1 billion
Europe (MORE than 1 country)=$1 billion

According to this source, 1.1 billion Africans live on "less than a dollar a day, and 2.7 billion without access to proper sanitation". I must ask you to enlighten me on why that is.

This should be a world's effort to fight Aids, not just America and Europe. Why? Because to slow down the spread, everyone must have knowledge of how and why, or else, it will seem like the US is 'IMPOSING' our views on other cultures. We've been accused of that for a long time, and though this accusation has a some merit, I do not want to see our effort in helping turn out to be someone's idea of us trying to dominate the world.

It's nice that you showed us that.
But it's just more crap.
We have know way of confirming that all that is true.
Because it most likely isn't.
And some people's idea of "Helping Africa with their aids problem"--is killing them all.
Have you even been to Africa?
You are talking about things you don't know about. You aren't thinking. You are copying and pasting.

That's very nice of you to say that, but how do we know what you're saying isn't more crap?

We have no way of confriming that what you say is true, because most likely it isn't.

^^^^ Now, does that sound as hateful and annoying to you as it was to me? I'm sorry, but you need to calm down first.

FIRSTLY, The statistics was given by oneonly101, therefore, ask her to confirm it with a source.

SECONDLY, the link I cited was CBS News, which can be a little more accurate that what you've been saying.

THIRDLY, do you think Africa is the only country with people dying of Aids? If so, you need to get out more.

Prove to me that I'm copying and pasting. Atleast I'm smart enough to "copy and paste" from reliable sources, rather than spouting of NONSENSE, because of my emotional problems. rolleyes.gif

1. I've BEEN to Africa..a lot of different countries there..I know the places..I see the people..and it amazes me how so many people are saying all these things..because it's not like that at all.
Africa has it's bad parts, as does every place.

So.. you're saying that CBS made that up? I mean, this could be libel, and you could be sued for saying so.

QUOTE
2. And if you'd read one of my previous posts, I said that Africa in fact, WAS NOT, the only place where AIDS was a problem.
And it shows me how little you know about Africa when you say "Africa is the only country". Because Africa is a CONTINENT. And I've been to almost 20 different countries there, and I know about more countries there.

Excuse me for misusing a word, I'm so ashamed. Okay, not really. But what does miswording have anything to do with Africa and Aids? You're still not making a point.

QUOTE
CBS is giving statistics about what they've heard. I'm speaking from what I've seen, and where I've lived, and what I've observed.

I can understand that, but why don't you take it out on CBS?

And yet, I still don't understand your point, if you even have one that is?

My point: People are so misinformed about Africa that they think they have to "help" them, or "give them money". You should go to Africa..or at least know that it is a continent, and not a country..before you make judgements like that.

And MY POINT:

Why then do people look to America for leading the world against Aids if they don't expect "help"?

If you've been to so many countries in Africa, I'm sure you've seen clinics where AMERICANS and other foreigners are there to help treat for AIDS.

It's kind of LATE to say that Africa don't need help.

I'm basing my "judgements" from the ridiculous news that America MUST give money.

If you don't think Africa needs help, then why do they take money and help provided to them? Gee, I wonder.

i know people who've lived in africa.

it's not like the movies- but it's not compeltely westernized either.

the money was for the global fight against AIDS. that would be, promoting condom use, and educating about AIDS.

it's not trying to cure the people with AIDS already- that'd cost too much.

it's for halting the spread of AIDS.

just a little thing: yeah the countries take the money, but it sure isn't being used to help the people. Man, in Nigeria the government and its leaders are so corrupt, they take money for themselves. But Nigeria doesn't really receive aids money so...

Also, i got my facts from avert.org, but even besides that there is no way for us to really know the precent because we don't have regular census like in the u.s. where it shows how many poeple are in the country and how many people have such and such.

But then it's not the US's fault that the money is not being distributed fairly. I mean, the fact is that the money used for something else other than what it was meant for because of THEIR government. What more can we do that's within reasoning?

Oh well. Before you respond to that. Remember..this topic isn't about Education

The reason America's average high school education level is lower than in other countries is because America doesn't ship people off to trade school or the military because they don't do well in middle school.
