QUOTE(sailormei @ May 23 2004, 12:22 AM) Same. It sucks big time. Although my parents are starting to be suspicious... lol...Oh well. I think in their minds they think I'm going out with my boyfriend, but they won't admit that they think that way. It's confusing, yes. yeah my parents always get suspicous... |

My parents aren't like that. At least I think not because I've never kissed anybody.
Sometimes my Mom think I'm lying to her when I say my best guy friend is JUST a friend. I smile because she does, so she ends up thinking that. It makes me so fricken mad because whenever I lie to her, she believes it and when I'm telling the truth then she thinks I'm lying. God, she can be so damn annoying. Well, if they ask about it just say a simple no. Sorry, but I can't really think of anything you could say. |

it's ok. i'm not supposed to be dating anyone till i'm out of college, have a job, living in my own apartment, basically till i'm independent and able to support myself. << i think this is the stupidest thing my parents have ever told me.
i don't feel bad about lying to my parents about having/not having a bf because i'm being pretty responsible about it. i mean, it's not like i'm... off having wild orgies, drinking, smoking, etc. so why should i deny myself the people i like and want to be with? Furthermore, i think my parents already figured out that i went out with some guys (it's kinda hard hiding the fact that you're dating someone with all the long phone calls, the anniversary gifts, etc.). and despite all their threats about beating me or whatever, they didn't say a word about it. i guess they're just accepting the fact that i'm growing up. (i'm 18 btw, and started dating at 15-16, so as you can see.. i stayed with their no-dating rule for as long as i could). |

I'm sorta questioning my parent's motives now.
They're overprotective about TONS of things.. Dating is the one that bugs me most. Sure they allowed my sisters to date back when they were in high schools. But they expect me to date when I hit college?!! I've been breaking that rule since the near end of jr high. I feel horrible having to lie and be sneaky like about the subject, but I feel better reminding myself to be responsible and not do anything that I'll reject and what my parents would REALLY disapprove of. Oh poo. I wonder if I'll have to expect the same things from my own kids someday.. |

i'm not allowed to date guys, so they think i'm not even into the whole "relationship" thing because i never mention anything EVER.
i tell them all the guys i actually like are really gay, so my parents will be more chill. when my parents finally started loosening up about hanging out with guys, i totally screwed up. they found out i was doing drugs. and on top of having really bad grades, i'm screwed so i've been grounded since october, i'll be grounded until february, i'm guessing. and i will get drug tested after all parties, so i can't have any fun :( so i'll basically be on proabation and my parents won't let me date until i'm 18, they say. but i can date now if i really want to, and i know they would be fine with it (at least my dad will). but hell no. i'm not telling them shit. :/ |

my parents aren't that protective. my mom likes it when i have a boyfriend cuz it gets me out of the house lol. she trusts me & knows i won't do anything too bad. my dad doesn't really care if i have a boyfriend. he just doesn't like me hanging out with a bunch of guys because he thinks it'll "give me a reputation"
