Just curious...
1) How much are you paying for rent? 2) How big/how many bedrooms/what kind of place is it? 3) Location? (I'm especially curious about what your rent is, mipadi) I'm paying $800 + utilities per month (splitting the $1600 rent). It's a 2br apartment that's pretty roomy. It's in Hamilton Heights, NYC aka Harlem, I guess. |

$950 a month.
One bedroom hole. ****ing Los Gatos, CA. The cheapest choice here is a rusted trailer home for $600 a month. Even our garbage is expensive. Actually, it's a nice pad, just kind of small. |

![]() Rent - $1000/mo ($500 each) Utilities - about $30/mo ($15 each) Comcast - $70/mo ($35 each) I have one roommate so splitting rent/bills isn't all that expensive, which is a huge plus. I have the master bedroom suite to the left, but my bathroom is in my room. (For some reason the floor plan always shows it outside the master bedroom) Our complex also has a fitness center and a pool which are really nice too. We have air conditioning/heating etc. We live in the corner on the top floor, so we only have neighbors on the same side as our kitchen/dinning room and we almost never hear them. Also the maintenance man lives across the hall from us so if anything breaks or we have trouble with something we always ask him. It's about two streets from campus, so it's a great location for me. Everything is almost brand new, so it's SOOO much better than the shitty typical off-campus housing across town that everyone HAS to live in because of all the frats zomg so cool. I think my favorite part is the intercom system and being able to talk to people in the lobby and buzz them in... I've never seen that before. Also since it's in a complex we have unlimited parking and no rules about guests parking either... which if you are from the area is a luxury because normally there is NEVER ANYWHERE to park in this town. Another thing I really love about this place is that it's not full of students. There are some students here, but they only rent to upperclassmen and graduate students. I may post pics later if I feel like it. |

I just finished up my lease which was $1210 a month. However my room mate and I split it, 605$...but you have to factor in the $100 a month internet/cable bill + the $200 BGE bill. Plus the loads of pop tarts we buy.
2 bed room, 2 bath, 2 huge walk in closets. living room and dining room combined. Kitchen. W/D. Ground floor with 2 seperate patios, one on each side of the apartment. Wasn't too shabby. Location: Crofton, Maryland. I know, i know...the place was broken into only once |

(I'm especially curious about what your rent is, mipadi) $850/month for a 2-bedroom in Astoria, Queens -- so $1700/month total. I don't know the square footage offhand, but it's pretty small. Not so small that you could fit it in the back of a Chevy Suburban, but almost. If you're asking because you want to know if Astoria is a f*cking awesome place to live, then rest assured it is f*cking awesome. Although Woodside and Sunnyside both border Astoria and are cheaper. (Sunnyside is pretty cool if you don't mind the train ride into Manhattan.) |

I pay $300/mo for a bathroom, office space and bedroom. The office and bedroom rooms are the same size at 9x9 each.

I'm looking at new apartments in Brooklyn now. The ones I'm considering are in Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope, and run in the $1500-$1700 range.

My cousin is waiting for their condo to be built in either Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope (I can't remember) and another cousin lives on Ocean Ave on the other side of Prospect Park in a pretty spacious one bedroom apartment. But I know more of Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park and Mill Basin than Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope. Good luck finding a place though!

Ugh, I love my place right now, but it's eating up all my money. Time to go back to craigslist and find other places/shares, preferably less than $700/month.
