At Work Options

How do you function at work? Do you complete everything you're assigned then kinda do whatever you feel like doing?

For instance, I replaced this incompetent "secretary" who labeled herself as the "Administrative Manager" in all her emails and her resume. She was OH SO CLUELESS and always had work that was queued for her. I thought there was just a lot to do here. Nah I started working and got shit caught up pretty quickly and now I'm on createBlog and reading other random forums about things that pertain to me.

i finish stuff and then get more stuff. i almost never sat around on the internet except for a few times when i was supposed to "research" shit on the internet. i always see other people in the office chillin on the internet though.

Well there's only so much I can do. A lot of what the other guys here do is geological and pertains to their degrees. I can format reports / answer the phone like a boss, though.

Yeah, but don't you study business administration or something? Isn't your entire career going to be sitting around doing nothing and taking credit for the hard work of the people who work for you?

Well, pretty much. No not exactly I'm not a management major - supply chain management is quite a bit different. Regardless, that's just undergraduate, going to Law School so I can be a shark and sue innocent people and take all of their hard earned money. If I'm running low I can always jump in front of a car and sue them.

I think working at a hotel, you kind of want to take it easy sometimes. I am always looking for things to do though when it is slow...which lately it hasn't been.

I work in retail, and in my experiences I hate jobs where they give you stuff to do that only takes about 10 minutes to get completely done, and then they expect you not to stand around for the rest of your shift. This store I just started working at is a lot more fast-paced, so usually I have something to do for as long as I'm there. If we don't get finished with everything, we're usually there late getting it all done, so that kinda sucks, but I'd rather be there on the clock and actually doing something. If I'm just standing around, it feels like just a few minutes turn into several hours.

both of my jobs are easy but neither of them really leave time to sit down. i'm on my feet the whole time. i might get to stand around and talk for a few minutes but that's it. when i'm done i just leave. cooking job is more lenient. if i stay to watch the kids i can do whatever after they go to bed. i usually watch tv, play games on my phone, and/ or mess around on the internet.

Well the computers at work are blocked to everything but sites owned by the company. Which makes sense. There is a lot of down time, can't have people on fb when there is something that could be done. There's always something to do at my job. Cleaning is one of those things you could always assign to somebody, and they won't finish before their shift is over.

My last job was at a Roaming solutions company. I mainly tested Blackberrys. So, I was on the phone with the technical team in Panama almost all the time and boy was it annoying. Because of the time difference, it was lunch time over there when over here was already early evening. I'm tired from school and all and they're off to eat lunch so I'd fall asleep. Plus they'd go eat for an hour. WHO HAS AN HOUR BREAK? There wasn't exactly much to do, just had to have the telephone next to my ears for about 4 hours constantly. Couldn't even put it on speaker because (it had to be mine of course !) my telephone was a messed up one !

Nope, that's Marketing/Management.
