Is that a New York thing? Because I'm going to be living in NYC soon so I could totally get in on the Mexican Coke thing, even if it is.

They sell it here at the base exchange.

They do the same at Starbucks where if you take your own thermos to put your drink in, they take off 30˘ or something and same with Marie Calendars that if you take in the tin thing for the pie, you get 50˘ off.

ANYWAYS

I think portion size is important. Sure there are people who will just eat another serving but then there are people who will just stop at one and obey the portion size. Portions and how often you eat are probably the most important things when it comes to healthy eating and watching your weight. We're suppose to eat 6 small meals but the majority of people eat 3 big ones. And with smaller portions, it's easier to stick to 6 small meals versus the 3 big ones. Some might say they feel restricted to what they're eating but they can think about it this way: if you have smaller portions of things, you'll be able to eat more of other things. Let me explain. Let's say you have... chicken and mashed potatoes for a meal. And you fill up the entire plate with just those two items. If you were to have smaller portions of those two things, you could make room for some salad or veggies because they do say half of our plate should consist of veggies. Also you'd be getting more of your daily vitamins and nutrition for the day.

While I was in Europe it tricked my body on portion sizes. If it's not pizza, I can't eat it in one sitting now. Like I can barely finish my salads anymore. It's really sad.

Speaking of salad, a few weeks ago I fell in love with chicken salads. Mixed greens + chopped onions + chopped tomatoes + green onions + baked chicken + balsamic vinaigrette mmmmmmmmmm

i don't remember but it seems like a lot longer than it probably is. i don't have any grand reason. i don't like most of it. i'm not crazy about never eating it, i would eat a salad that had bacon already on it or something like that. but i wouldn't go out of my way to get some.

i know people LOVE BACON, but i don't really get why

Whoa, old topic but animal fat is absolutely not the cause of obesity/any health epidemic. Saturated fat plays a key role in a variety of health factors and gets unjustly maligned in mainstream fitness circles.

Not even all trans fat is bad, either - CLA for example.

yeah but you can't deny that if you're trying to get skinny (not healthy or anything, just skinny) you're better off eating wild boar than you are eating the shit you get a the store

That really has nothing to do with what I said, though. You're bringing up the issue of organic vs. processed, not low fat vs. high.

that's true too, but I'm talking about the fact that wild animals tend to be much more lean than farm raised shit. even if you throw all the preservatives you can find at it, you'll still end up eating leaner food.

The leanness isn't the discerning factor as to whether you should eat organically or not, it just happens to be a coinciding variable. A leaner animal, for example, is often a healthier animal, even though the body fat itself as a macronutrient isn't the problem.

Lean meat, though, is different from a lean animal - it's stripped of the fat by human means, which is pointless.
