It's very possible, but I don't suggest doing it. It's not very secure.

Well if you use filezilla for ftp, you can set it up so you can right click a file and click edit, then it will open in notepad and you can just hit ctrl+s. And it will save it. and it is secure.
But now I use cyberduck, and it has a edit button that opens it in textwrangler. |

What exactly is xorg for? is it like use management. |

It's what allows you to open windows. X11 controls the windows, the window manager allows you to move the windows when you need to.
