I'm not really reading this, but I just bought my sister (she's pregnant) What to Expect When You're Expected: A Fetus's Guide to the First Three Trimesters. It's sort of a parody of all the What to Expect type books. I heard about it when the author was interviewed on NPR.
I'm actually needing suggestions on something to read, as my library is stale and I can't decide what to read next. I saw some decent suggestions on http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com (I LOVE that site) but any personal recommendations from folks here would be great as well. |

Something historical, but not Jane Austin type historical. Meaning, a period piece that isn't overly melodramatic. Or I can go with something that's known to work for me, like suspense.
Hm, something along the lines of 1984 maybe? I enjoy stories with dystopian style themes. |

Well, another classic dystopian novel from roughly that era is Brave New World; different feel but still interesting. If you want something slightly dystopian, more sci-fi, then Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (the basis of Blade Runner) is good. |

You know, with the amount of times I've seen Blade Runner, I'm surprised I haven't read that book. Perfect suggestion. I'll check the used book store this weekend. Thanks, man! |
