i started my school year out by missing the entire second week with the flu. i couldn't have gone even if i wanted though because they were pretty much like "OMG NO, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOUSE OR COME ANYWHERE NEAR THE CAMPUS WITH THAT!!!!"

needless to say i'm swamped with make up homework + new homework

Been at "school" since July. Had to buy $1k worth of books, died a little when my micro book got damaged in transit and is now has pretty much no resale value.

senior hospital internship is great though since there are no semesters, just one long ass year of shit, so I don't have to worry about getting good grades to keep my scholarship anymore, just have to worry about passing. that means only doing the bare minimum (which is still a lot, but it could be worse).

what sucks the most is that since i'm so far away from campus, I got bored and started drinking a lot more frequently whenever I have an "excuse" to. Promised myself that I'd stop though, not gonna buy anymore until the the holidays roll around.

damn wtf since july? you mean you actually started this semester then or you were in summer school then?

my books were like 500 which is good compared to most people i know, but bad considering how few books i actually have. nothing i hate more than $100+ lab manuals that are worthless after the class.

edit:
i think i read that wrong. maybe you started your hospital internship then

what are you going to go back for?

Back in high school, I had planned to study creative writing or dramatic writing...but I got sidetracked by computer science, which is probably my biggest regret. I'd like to go back to school to study English, creative writing, or journalism at the graduate level, preferably at NYU, Columbia, or University of Virginia -- although I probably wouldn't get in any of those places, a guy can dream, right? Anyway, eventually I'd like to write, and actually make money via journalism -- which is hard, but I think I could do it.

But mostly I want to go back to school somewhere because I miss being in school. I miss reading all the time and being able to discuss and debate people face-to-face.

Speaking of the flu, last night I found out a student in my photography class was diagnosed with Swine Flu on the first week. The professor brought it up because this lady in the front of class had a cold. ermm.gif Oh snap.

better watch out...was reading somewhere about a college having a major outbreak right now. thousands of people supposedly with swine flu symptoms. i think that's schools biggest fear right now.

oh yeah i remember you posting about regretting that. i think i posted in response that i'm afraid i'm going to finish school and then regret not getting an architecture degree since i switched from that. even though architecture and art degrees are a lot more related in general than computer science and creative writing. i think it's always best to be trying to do what you love regardless of it being harder/more competitive/less likely to make a fortune.

you're a smart dude. you can probably get into those schools. i think when i'm out of school i'll miss it too.

speaking of school, time for class

lol more than 50 people in my school has been diagnosed with swine flu in the past week. but most are back and healthy now. apparently, schools will only close down if more than 10% are absent due to flu.

I'm actually enjoying school so far. I'm terrible at math, but that's mostly done online so I'm not too stressed about it. I have more homework, but I don't mind it. I'm not looking forward to my US history papers that I have to write (1,200 word research papers), but I'll get over them. Oh, and my Psychology teacher is awesome.

I don't really care for lab days, though. I always end up thinking about something else I could be doing.

School's okay right now. But I have to do a ton of reading for all my classes. I'm just worried about my biology classes (lab more than lecture) because my professor doesn't know wtf she's doing and I'm not that good at science to begin with. Buying books this semester wasn't as bad as I expected, thankfully. Other than that, I'm getting by.

School is a bust. Everyone around me is going "OMG I have like the best classes like everrrr!! This year is going to be soOoooOo awesome!" while I feel like shit because my classes suck. Sorry for sounding lame, but it's all true.

Freshman's are EVERYWHERE. All of them dress so frikken slutty and they think they're the shit. I love Graphic Communications, but this frikken beezy who sits next to me irritates me. Can you really be so noob, that you don't know how to log in into the computer? Then this guy who's apparently is friends with my cousin keeps bugging me when I'm just trying to do some photoshop. I don't get anything in statistics.

But, eff all that. negativity got shizz on me.

Only stress are bills.

even though my parents are still paying for everything for me, i want to not depend on them so much and actually get a job and pay for everything. so many people have jobs and do school, and i have no clue how they do that because just being a student takes over my life.

yes yes yes. that's what i want more that anything.

i'm enjoying my journalism classes, but not news editing. i thought i would like it, but we just look at grammar and stuff ALL THE TIME and i'm tired of it already. and i'm enjoying my french literature class more, even though i didn't like it the very first day.

Classes are fine, but I have two English classes back to back. That's no fun.
Not much homework, really. Had one homework assignment in Astronomy, and one homework assignment in Computer Engineering.
Hate my classmates. School is filled with the city's poorest minorities. Most whites I have in any class is three, with 23 black people, 6 Asian people, and three Hispanic guys (not including myself).

I've only been to two classes so far... Introduction to Research Methods in Psychology is just as boring as it sounds. Digital Photography is not what I had expected; the TA is really enthusiastic about the subject, but is horrible at explaining things (even what apertures and shutters are). And the textbook is full of words. There are absolutely not images. What.

I'm not too excited for this semester now. At least there are some cool people in my classes.

It's my second term in college, it gets tough by the minute. But I'm happy. I'm very happy with my classes (Illustration Major & Film Studies). It's a true delight.

My dad's giving me his car soon. dance.gif

Wow @ Juna.

So far, so good, except for tennis, but that's a whole different story, haha. My classes aren't bad, but my schedule consists of going from one side of the school to another for 4 consecutive classes. My school provides books, so nope. I don't have much homework yet, but it's hard to do it because we're in season and I don't get home until 6 or 7.

I don't know that many people in my classes except for Trig and tennis (obviously) though. sad.gif

Luckily I got into all my classes and so far its been good. Joined a club today, always nice to meet new people and help out in the community. Hate the furloughs though since when one class has one another one might not so I still gotta go to school just for that one class >_<
