The Life Aquatic 16. The Truman Show 17. Freddy Got Fingered 18. Super Troopers 19. Waiting 20. Army of Darkness 'Kay, done. The Village? As number four?! That movie was a joke. It sucked. So, like, after my summer with netflix, even I don't think my list is acceptable anymore. I'll probably make a new one something this weekend.
(Holy shit. I accessed my netflix renting history for the first time in a while, and it's horrifying to see what my family rents when I'm not there.) |

v for vendetta goodness no, sorry. read FILM AS SUBVERSIVE ART. The Village? As number four?! That movie was a joke. the village is the movie you have most issue over on that list?! read FILM AS SUBVERSIVE ART. I'm no hoity-toity film fanatic like Nate but I like to think that I have semi good taste in movies... i'm so hoity-toity or whatever. it isn't the worst list i've seen here, but... honestly, juno is one of the biggest piles of shit i have ever seen. i just can't stomach that. you should watch jean-luc godard's filmography. So, like, after my summer with netflix, even I don't think my list is acceptable anymore. I'll probably make a new one something this weekend. omg, i lost netflix & i'm totally going to get it again. this christmas dawg. give me a list; i'm interested. |

Okay, I'm going to apply. Here's my list: is this a joke list? i seriously can't tell. 8. Eastern Promises probably my least favorite cronenberg. if you cared for any of the "darker" themes or motifs here, you might be interested in some of cronenberg's other stuff (which is almost all completely amazing). check out VIDEODROME, NAKED LUNCH, CRASH, THE BROOD, SCANNERS, SHIVERS, THE FLY, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, & EXISTENZ (probably in that order too). |

1.Plan 9 From Outer Space 2.Home Alone II 3.Juno (obvi!) 4.Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones 5.Armageddon 6.Planet of the Apes (the remake, obvi) 7.Sicko ('cause I like documentaries) [#'d for emphasis & organization] 1.boring, so what? you like the most infamous & well-known ed wood film. seriously, are you even trying?! boring! 2.i love this pick; this is the best thing on your list. 3.this movie is a pile of shit. if i was a teenage girl who had to deal with pregnancy, i would swallow a shotgun after watching ellen page (& her talentless ass) tip-toe through the whole thing like it's cute or something. f*ck. 4.omg i thought episode one was bad, f*ck. way to ruin something that wasn't even that great in the first place george lucas, you ass man. 5. easily one of the most lampooned films of all time; total crock. 6. what the f*ck is wrong with you? are you taking crazy pills? tim burton is stupid! this remake is offensively bad! i saw it when it came out & even then i knew it was bad, f*ck. watch the original, it's the cornerstone to the greatest american sci-fi trilogy ever made. 7. i like documentaries too... so why am i not impressed? try wiseman's TITICUT FOLLIES or morris' THE THIN BLUE LINE or herzog's LAND OF SILENCE AND DARKNESS Completely legit. wow. i expected more from you dawg, u got bad taste. |

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of the few romantic comedies I could actually stand, lol.
probably my least favorite cronenberg. if you cared for any of the "darker" themes or motifs here, you might be interested in some of cronenberg's other stuff (which is almost all completely amazing). check out VIDEODROME, NAKED LUNCH, CRASH, THE BROOD, SCANNERS, SHIVERS, THE FLY, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, & EXISTENZ (probably in that order too). Hm, I've heard A History of Violence was good. I'll check those out. |

Hm, I've heard A History of Violence was good. I'll check those out. A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE is good, but... i highly suggest you put a lot of effort into seeing VIDEODROME. like, you can see HISTORY but it's not going to change the way you understand, watch, or feel about film. more or less, despite some classic cronenbergian motifs, HISTORY is a conventional flick... however, VIDEODROME is something transcendent, something different. if you want to grow as a theater goer, a movie-watcher, see VIDEODROME (and take it very seriously). movies that change the way you watch movies are often the best movies. P.S. it's deserving of all the hype (go see it): ![]() |

Can you declare a movie from 2007 the best movie of 2008?
I'm applying for a job at the video store and need to figure out who my top 5 favorite directors are. I also have to solidify a list of top 5 movies. Hmm. |

Can you declare a movie from 2007 the best movie of 2008? it premiered in the festival circuit in 2007, but wasn't given a theatrical release until 2008. that's a cheat code. ; ) I'm applying for a job at the video store and need to figure out who my top 5 favorite directors are. I also have to solidify a list of top 5 movies. Hmm. whoa. what sort of video store is this?! |

Vision Video, there's about three of them here. It's infinitely cooler than Blockbuster.

my favorite jean rollin film:
THE IRON ROSE (JEAN ROLLIN, 1973) mystical, strange, erotic, and nightmarish. it's a beautiful and poetic film about romantic love & our fear of death. if you haven't seen a jean rollin film, you might want to prepare yourself. european genre-cinema verges constantly on avant-garde; it's low-budget, philosophical, surreal, and much unlike most cinema. european genre-cinema benefits greatly from its denial of cinema as a mirror of reality. european gentre-cinema embraces film wholly as an art form and as outside of the realm of physicality. if you complain that the blood looks fake, you've made an absurd argument; of course the blood doesn't look real, it isn't. p.s. lists. |
