How did the person make the bright looking soft effect on this scan?

Well for one, they did the coloring and it looks like they used the orbs method. Probably played around with the blending modes as well.

Duplicated everything after it was flattened. Blurred it, and lowered the opacity of the blurred coloring. This is also known as the dream effect.



Also, they used large soft edged brushes with darker colors and set them to lighten/screen, i.e. the red in the bottom right corner.

Maybe this tutorial can help out? shrug.gif

All you really have to do is mess with blurs and different gradients on different blending modes. :P
