Have any of you taken to the Netbook/Netop fad yet?
Have you built a computer using the intel ATOM processor? Are you excited about the upcoming nvidia 9400m on the ION platform? My sister owns an Acer Aspire One. I like it, but the keyboard is a bit cramped. |

had an early hp model, before they went all crazy with the design elements. It was alright, but not for me.

I don't really see the appeal of netbooks, for a couple of reasons:

i bought my mom a toshiba nb200 last week. it's supposed to keep her in touch with all her grandkids but so far she's been using it to play online casino. she's addicted to it now, been playing non-stop for days
it's running on atom n280, has chiclet keys, and 10.1 led display. i bought it for $499 which is a little high for a netbook. looks alright though. if i were to buy one for myself, id get a mobinnova elan. not sure when it'll come out. |

WTF is a Netop!?!?!? i know what a NetBook is.. but a Netop? my guess is lap-top, net-book = nettop = netop Close, a nettop=netbook+desktop Anyway, I had a nettop. I returned it. It sucked too bad. Also, I have built one computer with an Atom, for an aunt. It obviously wasn't the best computer in the world, but it's what she needed. |

i got the hp mini last christmas. i would use it a lot for school 'cause i'd get too annoyed/lazy to carry around my 15" and 17" laptops. i don't really use it outside of school, so i could understand mipadi's stance; if it weren't for the necessity to write papers and lab reports at school, i wouldn't be using it.

I like the HP mini. The keyboard is a good size. It just doesn't have the battery life of some of the other computers. |

^ tis true, fully charged it in the morning, mine would only last around 2.5 hours, and i hate carrying the charger 'cause it makes it pointless imo.
but you're right about the keyboard, since it is ~92% of a full size, i could type comfortably. it is one of the main reasons i chose it over the msi wind (80%) at the time. |

I've got an eee PC 1000HA. I enjoy it, my laptop overheats, has low battery life and is not very portable. My eee PC runs cool, lasts all day and is very portable. Supplement, not replacement.
