Self Vector, uggh...i suck :( Options

Ok, so after a couple of hours, I managed to design yet another vector. This time, I used a pic I posted in the MP topic. It didn't really turn out the way I wanted, especially near the neck and nose. I was also half-asleep while I made this so I kinda got lazy and just decided not to mess with the hair so much. I don't know, it's not really much but I do like the lips and the shirt. I figured I'd get some C&C on it just to see if my vectoring skills a little betters or something.

Oh yeah, and sorry for the rather small image size. The webcam I used to take that pic didn't make it a big pic so I had to work with small one. But whatevs, what do you think?

You should have made it bigger?! Thats one of the plusses of making a vector! The photo may be blurry but the final vector wont. You made yourself fat though. Looks good though.

I realized that but for some reason, it still looked blurry when I made it bigger. I must have done something wrong but it doesn't matter now since I didn't save the f*ckin psd.

no, I mean b4 you started you should have made it bigger. You cant make an image bigger, even if its a vector and expect it not to be blurry unless you use illustrator, or you can save it as svg.

It's pretty good, but your head just kinda looks like one big blob. You just need to define your nose and the neck a little more.

i suggest like streaks in your hair(like a faded black or gray) or w.e to show different strands or locks? haha
&a more obvious division between your neck &jaw/face. &a darker lines for your nose.

well, like I said, I kind of got lazy and didn't really want to work on the hair much. Thanks though for the tips.

Try enlarging and increasing contrast / levels / etc in the original photo, first. That way it'll be easier to do the actual vectoring.

Honestly, Mike, this isn't that bad at all. There's some obvious tweaking that should be done (that has already been pointed out). One other thing, and it's just a quirk, is that rays in the background are very, painfully cliché now.

work on the hair and the eye, it looks like it's joining.. :/ but vectoring is really hard, so good job :D

haha, yeah I know. I just wanted something else in the background besides a bunch of clothes thrown on the ground and a messy bed >_> Thanks everyone.

Yeah for sure work on the hair and "separate" your neck and head. There's something about the colors that throw me off. Perhaps the skin color. Looks weird to me. And your hair looks a bit choppy, especially around your eyes. But with that said, it looks great overall.
