I will be in the big city from the 16th to the 20th. Asides from the Metric show on the 17th, I need things to do and places to see that aren't: The Empire State Building, the ferry that shows you the Statue of Liberty, or any other places that will require a line, camera, and squat pose.

Interesting food places would be nice :)

I was just in NYC today haha. Tried out a Viet place around Grand Street in Chinatown called Nam Son. Their pho is pretty good, though it was a mistake to be eating something hot like that for lunch on a day as hot as today.

There's also a fairly new ramen joint called Ippudo that seems really interesting, but they have long lines I hear so I've never gone.

now that i go to school in the city i can help ya out!!!! lol

if you wanna go to a market and get some cool baked goods go to union square around noon and there will be a sort of farmers market in the middle of union square. they usually have a lot going on there, its on 14th st.

for korean food go to 36th st on 5tha n 6th ave. any restaurant you pick there will be good.

supermac on 7th ave between 29th and 3oth i think has some really cool mac and cheese combos

for bbq go to dallas bbq which is really good and really cheap for the amount of bbq they give. its on 8th ave and 23th st.

For food, there's a place called "Sweetie Pie" on Greenwich Ave that's really, really cute. They're a little higher end, but the place is pretty awesome. The ceiling is made entirely of mirrors and there's this giant birdcage with a table in it which is way cool. Their famous for their desserts :D

Also, there's the giant "Dylan's Candy Bar" a few blocks away from "Serendipity" on 3rd ave & 60th that puts the one in the Galleria to shame.

I'm sure you already know all the good places to shop, but def visit Soho. People usually stay on Broadway when they visit Soho, since that's where all the big shops are (uniqlo, top shop, etc), but if you wander around the area outside Broadway, there are a lot of boutiques that are pretty fun to look through. Plus I found an Irregular Choice store randomly that you should check out since the place is insaaaaane.

Also there's St. Marks place (street btwn Ave A and 3rd ave). Mostly full of NYU hipster kids, but it's pretty interesting to visit. Unfortunately, the bubble tea place there that was so famous got shot down :( but there's this ice cream shop (forgot the name) btwn 2nd and 1st ave (or 1st and Ave A?... just walk around the area) that has a passionfruit sorbet which is really, really good.

If you like bbq, there's this place called "Dinosaur BBQ" in Harlem. I've never been there, but I've heard good things. + it's got Dinosaur in it's name so it has to be awesome.

+ I'm not sure if the exhibit will still be there, but if you go to the Met, currently they have an exhibit put up by the Costume Institute called "Model as Muses." Basically it goes through the famous models and how they influenced the fashion scene in different genres from the early 20th century to the present. The "suggested price" to get into the Met is $25 $10 (for students), but you can technically only pay a quarter since it's not required.

1. HEY. I take offense to that stubborn.gif And St. Marks actually goes past 1st Ave and ends at Tompkins Sq. Park (Ave A.)

2. Are you talking about Cold Stone Creamery?

3. For students, the suggested price is $7.
