he's 100% because d can see b and c and doesn't say anything. b and a can't see anything so both say nothing, leaving c to realize that since b has a white hat, d does as well since he says nothing, leaving c with a black hat. |

If D saw that B and C had the same colour hat (eg white), then he would know immediately that his hat would be black. But since D keeps quiet, C knows that B and himself must have different coloured hats. So if B has a white hat, C must know that he has a black hat. |

A & B cant answer because they are facing the wall and can't see anyone else. D can see B & C..If they were both wearing white hats he would of automatically known what color his hat was. Since D says nothing and C knows B is wearing a white hat C knows hes wearing a black one. |
