Well i kinda in the middle of my first human vector and i just wanted to showcase it and get some advice and criticism.
I honestly don't like it. I just need more practice. What am i lacking? and i noticed a few mistakes. but ill just bypass those, cause ill fix them later.
Also I think i may be using a bad method. well here it is.

It looks alright for your first try. Maybe add more details to the hair and make the lips smoother. Also, the hair near the left side of the neck is "blocky". You should make it look more natural. I think you should also add a few shadows on the nose area and add the line near the nostril like in the original picture. Otherwise, good job. thumbsup.gif

well um. i dont know. that looks like a 15 minutes base draft or something. you could add more details, try to smoothen the edges and add shading too. you should check out some vectoring tutorials to help you out.

I mean this in all seriousness, but I'd say start over with a new one, and try and fix all the flaws, and learn from your mistakes thumbsup.gif

Pick a better photo. It's impossible to do well on your first human vector if you choose a picture with uneven lighting. Find a straight-on photo with even light and you'll find yourself having a much easier time.

One of the biggest issues is that it doesn't look like you used and curved lines. Humans don't have jaggedy faces and hair. You also have to watch what the actual picture looks like. Her right eye doesn't look like that at all. While that's generally the shape and set up of an eye from the front, it totally changes from other angles.

I think your first attempt looks okay, Joseph. A lot of people have troubling with vectors.

Yes I agree with Gabi.

I'm hoping you have different layers for different parts of the vector. You can always go back and put more details to the picture. Some of the parts are misaligned who doesn't seem too realistic. Maybe the eyebrows can be a little more curved?

ANDDD OMG! I THINK THE VECTOR REMINDS ME OF A BLOWUP DOLL.

It's alright. What I noticed first is her blank stare. It looks like a bad MS paint sketch. Work on smooth lines and shadowing. :)

I pretty much agree. Your edges are really choppy and square like. Make the shapes look natural.

Ooo, the sea side ones are pretty good. Yeah, I agree with Nat that the kid looks much better than the first post. Also, I would say that it looks better than the sea side one and I'm impressed that you can manage to do this in GIMP. lol. Great job. thumbsup.gif

Is the one of the guy still a little to choppy? I think i need to use fewer anchor points and curve the lines more.

Well techinically these are vexels in vector style. If I wanted it to be a real vector I could use illustrator. And of course I have a freeware version of that which is inkscape. Unfortunately if I want to use it i'd have to learn a whole new program! and there are no layers and stuff. I guess i'd better learn it, like i did the gimp...

Also, you can hardly see the dude's eyebrows. Either make them darker or something or make the hair kind of cover that area. shrug.gif
