Duplicate colored picture.
On duplicated copy, desaturate it.
Erase the part that you want to be colored.

Voila!

There are 19.5 billion ways to also do this. But that, IMO, is one of the easiest.

Uhh..use the selection tool and hit 'delete'? You can also just use the eraser tool. I think there's a tutorial around here.

It's pretty much like this:

01. Open up your image.

02. Duplicate the layer.

03. Make the the duplicated layer black&white or grayscale.

04. Erase/delete the parts of the black&white duplicated layer that you want to show in color. So when you erase it, it shows the color from the bottom layer.

05. Merge the two layers and you're done.

It's simple. tongue.gif Oh, and this is called Selective Coloring.

You can barely tell you did selective coloring, tbh. "/ Maybe you should use a different picture. shrug.gif

Yeah, I agree that you can barely tell but I can see it. Maybe try using a picture with more vibrant colors in it or something. shrug.gif

Well maybe you should try getting rid of that...flash? And you should also saturate it a bit more and maybe even mess with the hues a bit. It's all up to you though. shrug.gif

Hm, well, it still isn't that awesome of a picture to try this effect on. Just find some random picture of a flower or something and practice!

And yes, there are a gazillion ways to do this. Erasing, extracting, selecting. A GAZILLION. You just need to figure out which way is the most comfortable for you to do...

Hm. Well. Don't go posting it around without their consent.

I'm going to go ahead and close/move this. Let me know if you need it opened or anything.
