Each system has it's own niche to fill. Some niche's are larger than other, but they all exist.
  • When it comes to competitive gaming... XBOX360
  • When it comes to gaming + functionality... PS3
  • When it comes to family... Wii
  • When it comes to portable gaming... DS
  • When it comes to portable gaming + functionality... PSP
The most powerful system on the market is the XBOX360. Unfortunately it's also the least reliable, however the most recent Jasper model has fixed the issue. The XBOX360 clearly has the best library of games. Some may argue and disagree, but I own all of the consoles and know better than the fan boys from either side. You might have to pay for XBOX Live, but the content offered by Microsoft's XBOX Live service is obviously of a higher quality.

The PS3 looks more powerful on paper, however the hardware bottlenecks in the system keep it from being so. It has an extremely volitile library of games that are either terrible or awesome. The BLU-RAY Disc player rocks my socks, and I love watching TV on Hulu from my couch.

The Wii has the shittiest graphics card and therefore the shittiest graphics. There are very few games on this system that are good. All of the good games are made by nintendo (there might be one or two exceptions). You'd think that developers would spend time making great games for the system seeing as how so many people have purchased them, but they rarely do. I find that I play this system the least. It was clearly made for women.

The DS is fun. I have to say, "Nintendo did an awesome job on the DS." It's got a great battery life, there are no moving parts, and has a huge library of games. The downfall is it's low resolution screen, and terrible GPU which cannot render 3d models for shit.

The PSP has the shittiest library of games and a battery sucking UMD drive that sony needs to trash. The graphics are amazing for a protable console, and this system has some serious potential. Unfortunately, sony didn't market the system well enough, and developers have strayed away from the PSP because the DS has a much larger fan base. I can't wait for Phantasy Star Portable. :)

Don't be so sure. PS3's 2009 exclusive line up is blowing Microsoft out of the water. Other than Killzone 2, theres Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, Drakes 2, God of War 3, Infamous, MAG, Gran Turismo 5 and probably a few more.

Meh, Microsoft has a pretty good exclusive line-up as well.

- Halo Wars
- Halo 3: ODST
- Mass Effect 2

Haha God of War 3, that's if they ever decide to stick to a release date.

I swear it was supposed to come out this year, then it moved to the end of this year, and now its next year they are saying right now.

It will never end >_<

It better be exclusive to PC and PS3.

I have a hard time believing that Duke Nukem won't be released for the XB360. "id" has made their games available to all consoles since the dawn of time. They're focused on bringing their games to all platforms. Hence their graphics engines are based around Open GL and not DirectX. Doom 3 was available for linux...

Console RTS's have been a failure because:

- the resolution on a TV is too small and you can't see enough of the battle field to command your troops.
- the controls absolutly suck because the RTS genre was meant for a mouse and keyboard.

The PS3 and XBOX360 are meant to be played in high-definition. It's not our fault you're still playing on a 480i Tube. Halo wars has been made for the console. The controls for the game have been completely revamped and based upon the reviews floating around the game's controls are very good.

you're right, it is going to be another "micro-manage my troops because they're to stupid to move as quickly as possible" type of RTS... a thing of the past. I'm very dissapointed in this, however this is what the fan base enjoys.

I'd rather command my units than have the game play itself.

480i? i own a 42 inch 1080i sony bravia sherlock, congrats if you like it, cant even play as the covenant, battle scales are nothing compared to other RTS's, and only 3 on 3 online, but by all means, enjoy it

I like commanding my units as well, however I don't like repeatedly selecting my resource collectors and telling them where to go as the traverse between the resources and the base. I like telling my troops how to fight, but they should still have a mind of their own (to a certain extent).

You can play as the covenant, there are many games that have been ruined by having too great a scope in battle scale (I do like Sins of a Solar Empire, because it was done well.), and 3v3 is pleanty.

let me rephrase, there is no covenant campaign, and the rest of your statement is your opinion, i can not disagree but I do think the mass of audiences do prefer to have complete control of their units as well as epic battles as well as a bigger team than 3. With that said, I will agree Halo Wars is not a bad game, but until something extremely innovative comes along, console RTS will always be just a shadow genre

I did love me some C&C 3 on the Xbox 360. I played that game to death. I would've gotten it for PC but I didn't posses one that could run it.

Only for PS3 and PC. Also your comment about Linux, there's a rumor going around my business about it being made for Linux as well on the same disc that's for the Windows platform. If that's true, I wouldn't mind buying two copies of the game. _smile.gif

Well, to be honest, the PC game was a heck of lot better. It makes sense that it would be. The game was designed to be played on the PC. If you like RTS, you should check out Homeworld 2. I'm pretty sure your PC would be able to play it. It came out in 2001.

Dude that game is awesome, I own it as well. In fact I have owned every Phatasy Star game since Phantasy Star Online came out on Feb 23rd 2001. Others may consider the series to be lame, however I love that game and will love that game for years to come. We'll have to ad-hoc sometime. I've been looking for someone else who plays. I'm a lv23 FOnewearl. :)

Oh, look, it's what the PS3 developers dream they had come up with. The perfect controller! Funny thing, the only difference from the 360 is the buttons.
