A LOT of people could make more of an effort to improve the site. mods and members a like, and bashing isn't included in making it better either imo.
i said somewhere a couple days ago, i duno where, that mods should make more topics. |

Honestly, the mods should be more concerned about how to make CB a better site. The mods should be posting and leading by example. Instead of just posting, mods should be trying their best to create threads that inspire creativity and activities. Oh definitely. But it works both ways, to an extent. Mods should set an example (like JC, who is constantly trying to stimulate cB), but people should also understand that it isn't always necessary to resort to insulting, when being rational and composed shows a lot more intelligence and integrity. That's just my opinion though. I posted this thread to get your (general "you" your) opinion though. I think that perhaps if there is any question of whether not someone is "bashing", ask what's going on? Maybe people fun around together roughly? I don't know. Just throwing something out there. I don't think that anyone wants a PM every time a mod thinks they might be bashing though. :x QUOTE This is a community, mods. It's not just a forum for you guys to regulate. I think that in general, staff (again, in general) does not feel that this place exists as a means for ego stroking. I could be wrong, I just don't get that impression.@JC, it was in feedback somewhere. :) @Steven, yes, you are :) |

JC, I agree that members and mods alike should be working towards improving the site, mods just need to lead the MOTION MOVEMENT yeah i would agree with that. i wish some would do more, but i've always had too high of expectations for 95% of the people here anyway i think. i don't think our staff right now sucks though. sometimes, i think people just like to blame them and use them as an excuse. some people who spend so much time bitching at staff don't even add anything to the community themselves for the most part. smh, ![]() |

I believe that if you're going to take a responsibility to moderate a community, you should be willing to be an active member of said community as well. I agree 10000000000000% with that. QUOTE GENERAL GUIDELINES First and foremost, staff members are here to make sure everyone has a fun experience in these forums. They are here to help out whenever they can, contribute and make interesting new topics, and generally, be nice and sensible! They also enforce the community guidelines, police the forums whenever problems arise, and act as mediators to resolve the disputes, mediators meaning they should never willingly participate to contribute to the problem. They are the solution, not the problem! They also police these forums in a sense that they lessen general mayhem by organizing and making sure that topics in their respective forums belong where they are. Another responsiblity staff members have is to promote the community "togetherness", by making sure everyone feels welcome, participating in the sitewide initiatives, and create some of their own. Generally, staff members have the gaurantee of the site's good grace and support in whatever initiatives, contests, polls they start. So be free and think of ways how you can play a central role in the fastest growing blog community! http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...t&p=3012473 |

However, I still think mods should be more active in the forums. I believe that if you're going to take a responsibility to moderate a community, you should be willing to be an active member of said community as well. gotta co-sign with that as well. nothing annoys me more than mods who aren't here ![]() |

I know that there was a similar topic to this once upon a time, but I figured it's been a while and wanted some fresh opinions. In your opinion(s): What do you consider "bashing"?: What do you consider not bashing, just brutally honest?: When, in your opinion, should a moderator punish for bashing? Have you had your Wheaties today? Bashing is trolling directed towards one member. Brutally honest is just like bashing, but it's truthful. A moderator should punish for bashing if it's done repetitively. I don't think I've ever eaten Wheaties. |

I don't even think when Tung warned me that it was member bashing. I can't even say my own opinions about a member here on CB without being reprimanded for it. My opinion is that member bashing is when I randomly attack a forum member just because I dislike them. My thread, for example, was not just a random attack. Both illmortal and I built up to that because we had differing opinions on shit. Now, I don't even hate illmortal. I think he's a nice guy to talk to, especially on AIM. But if I can't even call him a f*cking twat because I disagree with his shit, that's just sad. Tung's reason for warning me was "no need to call people twats and ignorant" I can't even call people ignorant now? Obviously illmortal was angry as well, and yes, we probably could've been more mature with it. However, I don't think warning and closure of my thread was warranted. I believe mods should only step in when necessary. When I say "only when necessary", I mean mods should hardly interfer with the name calling at all. You guys are not parents, you are all just here to make sure CB isn't spammed by guro pictures. If you continue to interfer with the way the members act and react towards other members, you stump individuality and characters in CB. This, I promise you, makes CB a BORING place. I'd only warn a member when he illicitly follows around another member just to verbally assault him. -edit BTW, I already PM'd two admins about this shizz, but you guys haven't answered yet. (Busy, I understand.) I'd like to request that I be put on the staff alumni group since I indeed was a moderator on this site. (I think I moderated as early as before xangans became CB.) Thanks. I just re-read the Wishful thinking thread, and there was a whole page worth of you and Tama both attacking each other. Carrie and others had say that should your topic be closed, since it was a high chance it getting out of hand. I mean just the topic itself is asking to get closed. I told her to leave it open, as I thought it had some chance to survive. However yesterday, you and Tama got out of control, and were bickering back and forth and it wasn't even relevant to the topic anymore. You guys brought in personal stuff, like religion and stuff. You called Tama a twat, a conservative dick, a jackass, and telling him to quit sucking on reidar's dick. How is that now worthy of a 10% warning? The first couple of posts from you and Tama, yeah I was following the thread, and I didn't say anything. But after one whole page, I had to intervene as it got out of control. Still I didn't chose to close the thread, as I thought those warnings would at least stop you guys. You're going to have to talk to Mipadi or Carrie as they were the ones who closed it. I wished you would have responded or PMed me when you got warned yesterday, instead of going around complaining about your warning. That way I could've at least see what happened personally from you, instead of having to read it in some thread like this. |

I'm not allowed to call Tama an egocentric prick anymore. It saddens me.

^There are always 100+ guests on CB at any given time.
I dont care if anyone over the net bashes me. Because if we were to meet in person, most people who bash wouldn't say anything. And if one the bold few did say something slick, I'd hit them. So bashing over the net is nothing but a front for the intelligence and balls you lack. Its easy to talk to a computer screen. Was I even on topic? |

^Yeah. I wasn't on here much. But I do remember the time before MySpace. When Xanga was the site to be on. Thats when there were 100s of users on at a time. Good times. Im just a sucker for nostalgia.
