can someone tell me which one is better ? i just got my very first hair straightener and i've been told to use the chi products on another forum. and when i was watching some youtube videos on how to straighten your hair, one girl said to use the silk infusion. and when i was at walgreens site, searching for the product, they had the infra treatment. they are both in the same bottle... and i want to know which one works better to protect the straighteners heat from your hair? and also, i use it on dry hair right? what other products would you suggest me using? im chinese and i have long thin black hair x] so uh yeah, suggestions ? i also have conair's 1.5" professional ceramic straightening iron picture & stuff here.

honestly, hair places just want you to buy a certain brand to make profit. the only thing you really need to invest in is good shampoo and conditioner. i'm sure other brands work fine. should read directions on the bottle whether or not to use it on damp or dry hair, but you should always straighten your hair when it's dry no matter what the straightener advertises.

right now i use garnier fructis shampoo and v05 conditioner (i think).
yeah, the first time i straightened my hair, something started to smell. someone on that other forum said that it was the smell of my hair burning [i didnt put anything in it...] and i was thinking maybe of using this?: http://www.herbalessences.com/us/collectio.../hair_spray.jsp im guessing you use that after you straighten. and the chi (or w/e other product) before? anyway, i dont know what product is good for the heat protectant thing. thats why i want to know what is a good product =/ |

You know, I really have no idea about hair stuff. I use a heat spray from Tresemme and I don't even know if it does anything, but it smells good.
I wanna try Chi Silk Infusion because it's gotten many good reviews...so...that's pretty much all I can help you with. |

i have the exact same straightener as you got, just in red. i've been using it for years, and really, it depends on your hair.
i've used tons of products, but i've found so far everything is just better without them. i use plain old suave sleek and shine, and straighten wet. |

I use thermal protection from john Frieda, it makes your hair look smooth and shiny. It keeps away frizzes too. You might want to turn the heat down if you can smell your hair burning.

Hmm.. I actually use stuff on my hair before straightening. It makes all the difference for me though, as it makes my hair more silky smooth and shiny after I straighten. If I straighten my hair without put on a serum, it looks straight but my hair starts to look all dry.
I usually use a heat protectant straightening serum of some sort. Usually the serum protects and smooths with shine. I would invest in one if your hair is dry and you want optimal sheen and anti-frizz. The products I've used before: - Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum (Really good) - HerStyler Hair Serum - no - Biosilk Silk Therapy - no = Biolage Smooth Therapy Smoothing Serum (also highly recommend) I haven't used the Chi silk infusion, but my mother has it. ![]() |

Thanks Christina, I think I might actually try some of this stuff now. I think maybe I was using a shitty one so I didn't see a difference.

Thanks Christina, I think I might actually try some of this stuff now. I think maybe I was using a shitty one so I didn't see a difference. Just remember that a little goes a long way, and apply it mostly to the ends (bottom half of hair) and just pat excess on the top (not directly on roots). Like maybe I would use at most a penny-sized or nickel-sized amount, and my hair is pretty long now. I think roughly the Herstyler, Paul Mitchell, and Biolage (matrix) brands work and feel the same in terms of consistency. The BioSilk is REALLY OILY, and that makes all the difference because after straightening I would touch my hair it felt a little oily. The other products just blend into my hair. Just don't buy the HerStyler one because it's too expensive for what you get, AND it's a small bottle. Definitely not worth it and not even a well-known brand either. And see if you have any relatives or friends who can get you the products for cheaper. They can be pretty pricey if you buy then at retail. |

Treat your hair good!
Its really not good to straighten wet hair! Youll get bad! Split ends! Unless you use protection(pun). Unless of course you have crazy curly hair that cant be straightened dry. |
