Dim Sum has that special odor

I think all Asian take-out food smell the same. And it's not a good smell.

But it only smells like that when it's take-out. =\

Oh, fob language on menus. You can never really trust Chinese menus lol. Unless you went to a very psuedo-Chinese place and they thought that the single thing they had on the menu was really just dim sum. =\

If by Shanghai dumplings, you mean xiao long baos, THOSE ARE THE BEST THINGS IN THE WORLD!! Especially if they have a lot of soup in them.

I want some now.

Shanghai dumplings are completely different from 'potstickers'. I have no idea how to explain their differences, but believe me - they're different.

I'm pretty sure Shanghai dumplings are pot stickers (锅贴) (that's literally what they are called in Chinese...wor teep. Wor = pot/pan/ceramic pot whatever, teep = sticker). Xiao long bao are called something else I think...soup dumpling? I love both of them either way. btw they're not dim sum in the traditional sense, just regular Shanghai food (WHICH IS SO GOOD).

Either way, "Shanghai dumplings" is a really general term. It just means dumplings from Shanghai. And dumplings can refer to any number of kinds of dumplings, including xiaolong bao and pot stickers.

I FREAKING LOVE THESE. "Tsa leung" shit my Cantonese romanization sucks. Whatever, they're delicious.

I want some siu mai, my all-time favourite dim sum.

Ah, wor teeps totally slipped my mind. I was still thinking about xiong long baos.

Anyway, my new favourite dish is taro cake. I never order it at dim sum, but after this CNY and having it so many times, I'M IN LOVE.
