QUOTE
This is not a joke: 71-year-old Etta James actually threatened to beat the crap out of Beyoncé Knowles -- and it's caught all on tape!

The war is all over Etta's song, "At Last " -- Beyoncé sang the tune at Obama's 1st Inauguration Ball on Jan. 20th ... but last week at a concert in Canada, James was still pissed.

While on stage, Etta told the crowd, "Your President, the one with the big ears ... he had that woman singing my song. She gone get her ass whipped."

She continued, "The great Beyoncé ... I can't stand Beyoncé," according to audio from Crown City Media.

Ironically Etta didn't kick up this sorta fuss when Beyoncé portrayed her in "Cadillac Records."

Reps for Beyoncé had no comment.

wtf blink.gif i was so confused when i heard this on cnn this morning. i don't get why she all the sudden has a problem.

WTF @ "your president" at a concert in CANADA. "He ain't my president"? She's got a lot of nerve.

Etta just sounds really bitter, that Obama didn't ask her to sing it.

I have no problem with Beyonce singing it, I thought it was good. But I still think it's funny. Etta's reaction was the same as my mom's. She can't stand Beyonce, so she hated it. laugh.gif

I saw a clip of Etta James at the Cadillac Records premiere on MTV Canada... apparently she was never asked by Beyoncé if she could portray her in the movie (meaning she didn't really do any research for her role), and she was very upset about that. And also I remember in the clip she said something about being a muuuch better singer than Beyoncé XD.gif

But her son is also quoted as saying that his mom was actually moved by Beyonce's performance on inauguration night.

I think the thing is that Etta James isn't afraid to say what's on her mind (whether it may be because she's actually angry with Beyoncé or she's just really jealous), but her son knows not to bitch about Beyoncé in public (and so lied).

I did think Beyoncé's performance on inauguration night was beautiful, and that Etta James should be flattered that Beyoncé used her song.

what's so ironic to me is that etta james was covering the song to begin with. it wasn't HER song so how is she gonna be a bitch when someone else sings it? she just sang it 2929 times

^ You make a good point... maybe it's the fact that her cover of it was considered her signature song. shrug.gif

yeah i duno. i mean so many other people have sang the song, i don't get why it would be such a big deal to her. maybe she was just jealous that beyonce got to sing it for obama, but obama isn't her president according to her so i don't know why she'd care about singing it to him laugh.gif

it's just a weird situation. there is way better things to jump all over beyonce for imo though.

Okay, so if Etta James is pissed off at Beyonce, she should want to MURDER Christina Aguilera.

HOLY SHIT is this the worst cover I have ever heard. Of anything.

^ I've never really liked Christina Aguilera's covers because she tends to overdramatize them... but damn, that was AWFUL. It makes me sad.

And Etta is right, Obama is NOT my president. Don't be fooled by his skin color or the party he runs for. Oh and by the way, the Democratic party was filled with KKK and Christian Zionist politicians.

Edit: Though there is some things I disagree with mellow.gif
