sooooooooo my mom told me that I spent $568 this year on back to all of my school shopping (jeans, tops, socks, underwear, backpack, etc) . YES i realize that's half of $1000 & i just got slapped by reality that i need to seriously cut back on my shopping =T

is anyone else on cB a shopaholic? if not, how do you guys NOT spend?

for lent i gave up shopping & that worked, but only because i barely went to the mall...

i'm gonna start to not bring my card anymore...

hopefully that works.

edit: by card i mean debit card.. but thats still the same thing in terms of SPENDING lol. i just don't bring it with me anymore... alllll cash now.

Their is a time to stop and when to shop.

Haha I'm a shopaholic too.
Except everytime I go to the mall I spend like 400-500 on average.
I really need to stop.

basically drain your account. srsly. put, like, the MINIMUM in your account that you need to survive, then move the rest to a savings, and have set dates where you go shopping, and take somebody with you, so they can help you control your spending. also, research before you shop. i remember once macy's had a shirt that i wanted for like $20, then i found it at target on clearence for $12.

edit-holy crap, old topic.

Most people generally just restrain themselves because they know they need the money elsewhere.

Self-control, people.

Half a grand isn't even that much. I mean, it only happens once a year, right?

It's like half self-control and the other half is budgeting.

If you have a checking, savings, and direct deposit then you would do an allotment. An allotment in our case is an automatic deduction from your paycheck into another account. So if your paycheck goes to your checking, you can set up an allotment to automatically deduct say $50.00 into your savings making it painless to save money.

Budgeting is when you layout your remaining paycheck for what you need such as groceries, bills, etc. Make a list and commit to it

So this is my confession:

I've spent over $4,000 in the past year at Michael Kors alone. Granted, I have worked there for the entire year and I get 50% off or more, but I looked up my transactions and added all of them up recently.
(Don't get me wrong, I still had plenty of money leftover for bills and other nesessities.)

...Oh boy. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that I have absolutely no will power, whatsoever. help.gif

LOL. that's not even that much. I spend about $200 a week on clothes and shoes on average. I would say I spend about 7-8,000 dollars on clothing/shoes alone a year

thats so true with me too, I can barely buy 3 pairs of jeans with 500 dollars. :/

There have been times where I've intentionally saved up six paychecks, and once I didn't have any bills to worry about; I would spend every penny on clothes.

Damn, you all are a bunch of greedy beezys. haha.
I probably go mega shopping 4 times a year, with $150-200 usually.
Defiantly enough for me... I would rather not be absolutely surrounded in a mess of clothes.
I mean, there is more important things to buy..
