what are the usual sizes???

The width is usually set to 800px so it matches up with the navigation bar. As for the height, it can be as much as you want, to be honest.

i useually use width; 900px and height; 1000 the reason i use those is so you can have a background that matches up with your banner so it looks neat, no matter what is in your myspace tables :)

It doesn't have to be that big for it to blend with the background.

i explained why i have them that big,
its because in my band profile when we put stuff like "blast my music" and a "demand getupnovember here" thing it streches our tables outside of 850px. thats the reason i said that big. |

also, slicing images makes it look a lot more professional, well i think it does :D

yeah i used to make one image then make links on it,
i do that most times, but when im doing a good pricey layout for a band, i use slice tool, to keep everything together. |
