QUOTE(brooklyneast05 @ Jan 22 2009, 02:20 PM) *
i actually agree with this. some of people running in here and calling her ignorant aren't even giving real replies. why the hell should what you say make any difference to her when you aren't even saying anything relevant to the topic? just running in and saying how she's so stupid and ignorant and leaving again is annoying. not just to her, but probably to all the people who actually took over 15 seconds to write a reply. ffs

dosomething and i don't agree on hardly ANYTHING political but at least she will actually reply saying something. some of the people who are calling her ignorant have never even proven they themselves aren't ignorant to politics.(not everyone replying, but a couple imo who i won't name) i would wager she knows more about what's going on than a lot even though we see the same events in different ways obviously.

MOTHER f*ckERS

I think people have pointed out some ignorant comments. For example, saying that blacks only voted for Obama is ignorant, especially when giving the implication that, for example, old white guys -- who are overwhelmingly Republican -- actually examined the facts and didn't just vote for McCain because he's an old white guy. Or implying that the religious right doesn't give overwhelming support to politicians like Bush just because he claims to be a Christian.

Or what about the fact that Obama somehow won because he's a media darling? If the media loves Obama so much, how come they made such a big deal about his connection to Reverend Wright or Bill Ayers? Or, hell, how come they made such a big deal about the lack of a god damn lapel pin? At some point, Republicans need to realize that the media isn't liberal, it just says whatever gets the most advertising money. People like Obama -- gasp! -- so positive stories like him generate a lot of ad revenue -- but if you look back over the history of the campaign, it wasn't always that way, and Obama got his fair share of shit from the media. Besides, for most of the summer, I saw very little criticism of McCain in the media.

I won't even talk about how ignorant the claims about socialism were, since socialism isn't strictly about "redistributing wealth", as dosmething implied.

@ michael
no i agree, and agree with everything you say. i'm not saying that she isn't making ignorant comments, because i think she's making a ton of stupid ones. that's why her and i are always going at it since she started posting here. i do think her comment about black people is ignorant, that's why i called her out on it and we discussed it.

i'm just saying it's funny to me when people run in here and say she's ignorant and that's their whole debate with her. they never explain themselves or why they think she's ignorant. i agree with her that they aren't debating her so it goes no where. there's some who come in the debate forum and act like someone else is stupid as hell but they never really debate here and when you ask them where they are coming from they don't even really respond. that just grinds my gears. i don't care if people wanna call someone ignorant but i just wish they'd elaborate on why they think they are ignorant.

if that makes sense. i duno, i just thought you were misunderstanding me if you thought i was trying to say she wasn't making ignorant comments.

that rant is actually more general for me, although i went off about it in regards to this topic. it's not just dosomething, the whole debate forum in general, i don't like when people come in and call others stupid and ignorant and don't seem to ever provide much of anything else.

edit:
reading over this, i think the whole thing can be summed up in the bolded part. oh well.

By telling me im ignorant, thats just a way of making you sound like your right. Im not ignorant and it would be good if you learned to be tolerant of other's views. If not, you can surround yourself with people who think just like you and call everyone else ignorant. But you are not debating, so unless you want to tell me how I am being "ignorant", you really have nothing important to say.

Fuck you.

I'm very tolerant of other peoples views seeing as im bisexual and my mother is a nazi catholic who believes im going to hell.I only have pointed out your ignorance as you said things about how black people only voted for obama for being black and blah blah blah.
Reason for edit: i cant be mad at JC.

It gets exhausting coming in here and scrolling up and down the pages looking for all the angry replies thrown at me and then replying to them.
I did not say that all black people voted for Obama because he is black. There are layers to what I was implying. I meant that a lot of black people, not all, did not research Obama like they should have because they were so enthralled by the fact that there was an intelligent, accomplished, inspiring black man who might be the first black President of the United States. (I am not implying anything about black people or their intelligence. Okay? okay.) I thought that character had a lot to do with voting for a president. They completely disregarded his past associations, his lack of experience in politics, the fact that he hasnt accomplished anything in his political career besides "inspiring people", and blah. blah. blah. I mean comparing him to McCain is a complete joke. Obama has done NOTHING and still, they voted for him. Of course, the media aided him in his campaign. Ripping Palin and McCain apart.. basically making Obama look like a fresh, new leader and Palin like a bozo from a small town and McCain an old fart getting ready to keel over at any moment.
And saying how the mass media made such a big deal out of Obama's label pin and his Reverend is a joke. There are so many things and people from Obama's past the media did not dare touch. Liberals protecting liberals, I suppose. If Palin had a crazy, anti-American pastor... well I can only imagine how people would have torn her apart more.
And, no I dont think socialism or a little socialism is okay at any point. And I never said that socialism is nothing but "spreading the wealth around." Dont know where you got that from.

I think I have made all my points. Again. Bye.

Jesus Christ.

First of all, Brooklyn posted an article that broke down that error riddled book you recommend. Second of all, if you're going to complain about inexperience, keep in mind that Palin came out of nowhere with little experience with Washington politics. The numbers are for Obama to begin with. The Democratic ticket had TWO (count 'em, 2) people who've experience with Washington and executive politics. The Republican had 1.

2 > 1

And stop harping that African Americans may have been persuaded to vote for Obama just because he was black. It is inspiring. A lot of people vote for someone they think they can relate to because that would mean similar interests. If Obama was Republican, it wouldn't have changed anything if it was based on race.

If an Asian ran, Asians would vote for him because they can relate. If a Latino ran, the same thing was happening. People want someone they can relate too and understand and feel as if they shared the same problems so they can tackle the things they want to change. That is the point of voting. To vote for the person you think would ultimately help you the most.

Palin had a pastor who engaged in witch hunts. How quickly we forget? Conservative protecting conservatives? ZOMG NO WAY

Do you not think just as many white people voted for McCain because he was white? Without reading about him or knowing more than that he was in a war and was a "maverick"?

I also still don't think you understand how socialism or our economy works at all.

Even before some members started calling her ignorant i already thought that the first post was pretty ignorant then read the rest of what else she had to say and i got kinda heated up . Heck i would have voted for McCain but that doesn't mean that i agree with what she said that they only voted for Obama because he was black.

THANKYOU! When I read that I was just disgusted. That person should be banned for such horrible racism.

I wasn't being serious, obviously. I'm not racist. I think Obama is going to do a good job, better than the other candidates we had this election. I'm not for the "KKK" or anything. It's just, he's obviously got a higher percentage of being assassinated than any other president we've had in modern history. We live in the grand ol' United States of America, after all. WE R INTELIGUNT.

I actually hope that Palin does indeed run in 2012, that would guarantee a victory for the Democrats.
