Phở is a traditional Vietnamese thinly sliced meat and rice-noodle soup dish.

it might be acquired taste, but i grew up on this. it's not only my american friends that dislike it, as you can see, asians (tung) hate it too. it can't go wrong in my book because i love soup, noodles, and cilantro.

if you are feeling adventurous, i suggest you try vietnamese coffee w/ condensed milk and summer/spring rolls.

^^I'm 100% Chinese. The only reason why I like it is because my dad went out one day and got it. My dad, my sister, and I LOVE this stuff. At our worse, we had it like 3 times in one week. We use to have it once it week. =9

I really want to go to Vietnam and see what authentic authentic Pho taste like. I saw a tour on Vietnam on TV and the noodles like a lot wider and heavier. I mean, the best I've tasted is in New York but I might be biased cause I think NY has great food.

That looks REALLY good. I rice and pasta. The Summer Spring Rolls look really good too. I'm hungry but tired of the same boring crap. When I get some money I'm going to try something new. Know anywhere I can get some recipes for the items you have shown me here?
THANKS!

I love noodles, soup, beef, but HATEHATEHATE cilantro, the flavour absolutely disgusts me. I am so not a fussy herbs girl. Seriously. When they give me all that lemon, leafy crap and bean sprouts I don't put any of that it, wtf. I certainly don't have a sophisticated palate but the less ingredients to me = better.

it no longer takes 15 minutes to reach the closest pho restaurant. one restaurant is five minutes away and it's called pho real.

i like basil leaves, but not as much as cilantro and spring onions. i put in lime randomly but i usually prefer plain soup taste, meaning no sriracha or hoisin sauce in the soup.

Can't help it if my palate is more suited to Southern Chinese food shrug.gif That's why I don't love Vietnamese food, but I like pho because I can get rid of the extraneous crap.

There was actually a place that I went to all the time that was called Pho King. It was hilarious. I can't get really good pho here in NYC though, I can't seem to find it.

LIES. But I've never had authentic Pho so I really can't know what is good to a Viet palate. But I can recommend one on Ave U in Brooklyn. I haven't found ones that suit my taste in Ctown or Flushing. But my Viet friend eats at the one I do and she says its pretty good.

Pho is overrated! I hate that stuff. lol I only go to pho restaurants so I can buy some com tam (rice dishes). The soup tastes and smells like shit to me. I love me some cilantro though, in my sandwiches. eyebrowes.gif

dude I LOVE LOVE LOVE bun bo hue. The downside is that I dislike those blood cubes. I think they're pig's blood? Ew those taste nasty in my bun bo hue. :[
