okay so if you connect your laptop wirelessly with the router then connect the Ethernet cable with the laptop then it should work, and there just go to the NETWORK SETTINGS and set the IP and DNS to AUTOMATIC.

you could get a wireless adapted for about $30 if you went to gamestop, or if you have a long enough Ethernet cable you can try and connect to the router.
that's what i do it works good, i just got a really shitty connection lol because my service company sucks!! |

If you want the Xbox wireless adapter that is just really easy to install, thats about $100.. but to go wired, i recommend going to FRY'S and buying a cable that is about 50 - 100 ft. long..and you will be surprised at there prices! i mean Check it out!
Ps. Wired gives you better Reception than Wireless...especially on Rainy Days..That just interferes with the Radius... |

^ true.
I got a wireless adapter... theres times when i get kicked out a game for little to no connectivity. wired is better... just make sure you have no pets that like to bite on wires (like cats) running it along the wall is also a good way to keep it 'hidden'. |

Yes you can use your laptop to share its internet connection with your Xbox 360
Basically you'll just be saving like $80 from buying that retardedly expensive wireless adapter but you will still be prone to disconnections because your laptop is running off wireless |
