Even though it's not the best answer and all the computer geniuses will cringe at it, I don't really think it matters. As long as the computer can support the programs you want and function properly, you'll be fine. It seems like people usually go for Macs, but I like my PC.
As for desktop or laptop, it just depends on your situation. If you don't have a desk, don't get a desktop. If you move around a lot, get a laptop. |

Web designer, my instant suggestion is a Mac. To be perfectly honest you can use a PC to do all the web design stuff but Macs are an industry standard, across the board. You will never encounter a design firm that uses PCs. Never. It's just a good idea to get accustomed to Macs if you're even considering a career in web design or just graphic design in general. (Something to consider: Macs were even used to create Microsoft advertisements.)
As an operating system though, I find Macs to run much quicker, be WAY less prone to viruses, and look nicer in general. |

yeah i was going to say what gigi did basically. there isn't anything but macs in the art department at my school. i mean it sucked at first in class for those who weren't used to a mac because they had to get used to that plus learning other stuff at the same time.

Mac is best from what everyone tells me. But, my sister actually doesn't want her Mac now because it's complicated to use.
And I agree with Schizo but if you don't then Mac. |
