would you be the same person you are now?

You've been going by your name, or a variation of your name, for your entire life. If you were called Frank or Gertrude your entire life... do you think you'd end up any differently than how you are now?

I have a really simple name, but I like it. No one says my birthname correctly, which is why I'm glad that I go by Dee. I don't think Carlos Mencia's "deedeedee" or "deez nuts" have ever bothered me, haha.

i think i would definitely not be the person i am now. my name and how i am gives a totally different persepective of me if my name was different. i'm pretty sure if it was another name, it would be very different.. but i would never know. lol

I certainly think I would be different.

My name isn't hideous, it's just plain and boring...as well as a popular dog name (which was just more amunition for bullies). I have always hated saying it and ended up hating to say other people's names unless I'm referring to them indirectly.

For the entire 20 years of my existence, I never called my brother by his name. It wasn't until recently that I began calling people by thier name which is only because my job calls for that. _unsure.gif

But say your name was Buffy and you were made fun of in kindergarten because of it and therefore developed a complex ... you don't think your outlook on life would be different?

Hm, good point.

I'm sure something would be different. Technically, you wouldn't be who you if you were named something different. I also take into consideration that many of us are named after someone, as I am named after my grandfather, and there is a certain expectation within yourself to live up to the name of a great person you were given.

I think I should have been name Lolita because I attract so many dirty old men and I still look like I'm underage for being 23.

Wait, so... your name is Jon, and both of their names are Jon? Didn't it get confusing?

^ Yeah, you have absolutely no idea. That, and it was hard - because for a while whenever I heard my own name, it broke my heart. blush.gif

If my name were a little more interesting, maybe I wouldn't be so introverted.

*wishes her name were Guinevere*
