I'd say if you're going for a more creative career (graphic designer, illustrator, etc) then there's nothing wrong with it. When I was applying for a print/web design internship, I should've done that...

Some of them are okay. Some of them are a bit over the top. The more minimalist ones might be usable.
Part of the problem with a bunch of them is that they waste a lot of space. Unless you're well-experienced (i.e., middle-aged), you basically get one page for a résumé. Not one page front-and-back -- one page, period. No one's going to read a second page. I don't have a lot of stuff on my own personal résumé, but it barely fits on one page as it is, and I waste very little space. |
