I'm sure there's a topic like this somewhere out there, but anyways.

What's your worst fear?

I'm constantly afraid of the people I trust and love turning on me or deserting me.

Yes. I don't fear the prospect of death (although it pisses me off) and I have no friends or family to hold any attachment to. Therefore, I'm not afraid of anything.

If/when this does happen, you'll realize that fearing the idea is far worse than dealing with burned bridges.

There's no reason to fear the inevitable. Worrying about death is pointless.

Don't spoil it for me, mang. I'm only on episode 71. I've been chasing this series for over a year and after my computer crashed, I lost err'thang, so naturally, I had to redownload and start watching from the beginning.

I'm really big into facing fears, and what not, if you haven't noticed.

I've never really understood the fear of acceptance. It's a common and legitimate fear, but I never understood why acceptance is so important. Fill me in from POV, kudasai. ^_^

Isn't it common, necessary for survival, even, for humans to want to be accepted? To live a life of isolation from your peers because you're not accepted is probably one of the hardest things to tolerate.

I think everyone who says things like, "I like to be independent and different from everyone else, regardless of what other people think" are just kidding themselves. To a certain extent, we all care about what other people think of us. It's one thing to be independent, and another entirely to not care at all about others' opinions. Biologically, evolutionarily, psychologically, we all want to be accepted to lead a happier life. And if you don't want to be happy, there's probably something wrong with you.

Just my 2 cents lols.

Well put.

However, for me, I have to disagree on a couple key points. There are certainly exceptions to this. Although I have a desire to be accepted, I've harvested so much anger and frustration thanks to a number of uncomfortable experiences with people (family included), that it's driven me to the point of selfishness in certain cases.

My independence stems from me being as self-reliant as possible (often allowing my pride to prevent me from ever asking for help). My indifference to acceptance stems from my selfishness of refusing to compromise myself for those whom I don't trust. I laugh at my own foolishness because it contributes to my demeanor. Alright, so I'm a little jaded, and I may or may not have a few chips on my shoulder.

I feel like I've already failed in life. Which, up until a few months ago, was my biggest fear. Now I feel like the life that I was so familiar with is coming to an end and I'm starting all over again when I finally move back to the states.

Yeah, no.

What we are biologically predisposed to doesn't have bearing on our incentives as an analytical component. Darwinism is a biological circumstance, but Richard Dawkins will be the first to tell you that it makes for a very poor societal structure.

I don't care what people think of me. Being hardwired to a different inclination, as a social creature, doesn't change what I choose to act upon.

Living on $1.00 a day without a solid roof over your head in apartheid destabilization is tough to tolerate. Having no friends is laughably inconsequential to me.

Just to get it out there, I'm not prepared for a full-out debate, I just gave my own explanation because Brandon asked me.

Besides that, I don't like to argue with robots. shrug.gif

Don't worry about it Sgt. Brandon.
