so i downloaded itunes 8.0 and it works fine, but for some reason it's PURPLE. no idea why, but i've heard that it has been messing up on some computers. i have windows xp. here's a screenshot so you can see what i mean: http://i38.tinypic.com/2l8uhvp.jpg

i thought of uninstalling it and reinstalling the 7.whatever version but i don't know if my whole library, playlists, etc. will be gone.

Weird, I have windows XP and iTunes 8 looks fine. But no, your library shouldn't get deleted if you uninstall and reinstall. Just to be safe though copy your library.

You can't install iTunes 7 again because when they try to import your library from iTunes 8, it won't work. Your library should not be deleted though.

No. Whenever I update iTunes everything is still intact in its entirety. I would imagine it to be the same if you went backwards.

But like I said, the new file they use for iTunes 8 for your library isn't compatible with iTunes 7 so it may not work.

I use Zune, but if you have files downloaded from iTunes I don't think they'll work, but I haven't tried.

You should have a ITUNES MUSIC FOLDER..

Go To: MY DOCUMENTS > MY MUSIC > ITUNES > ITUNES MUSIC

when you are there, SELECT ALL and COPY them and put them into a New Folder in My Music..

i wish i found that out sooner before i uninstalled it because now it won't let me reinstall itunes at all. i'll get to a certain point when it's almost done and a box pops up saying: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."

i went into add/remove programs to uninstall all of my apple/itunes software, and i noticed that there was still an itunes lable in the list... but then it says the exact same message (above) when i try to uninstall it.

when i first downloaded it on my mac, the area around the scroll bars was black, rather than transparent to blend in with the track. i just downloaded the update.

iTunes used to be such a great program. I think it hit its peak around iTunes 3. It's just been downhill since then.

iTunes takes forever to load on my computer. I wish there was another viable option, but there isn't, really.

Here is a link to the Zune software download.

If you have an Xbox live account, you can link that to your zune account. http://www.zune.net There is the main website.

i almost got a zune but then last minute i decided i wanted the new Classic so i got that instead and I'm happy with the actual iPod I just recently began to hate the software.
I love the zune software but I hate the zune itself. :/

You can always uninstall and roll back. You can find older versions here. Make sure you back up your library.
