I was typing up a mini essay for school last night and the topic was learning style - what best suits you.

I remember back in grade school (AGES ago) our class participated in a program designed to determine one's learning style. It was determined that I was a kinesthetic learner. I've found that as I've grown older, I'm definitely a learn by doing type.

My brother is an elementary school teacher and his wife works with special needs kids (she has her masters in psychology). I got into a conversation with them about this and they had a slightly different take (from myself and from eachother). My sister-in-law thinks that there is validity to these types of determinations but that most people are a combination. My brother puts less stock in these ideas and feels that depending on the subject matter, a student will employ varying "learning styles."

Small chart to sort of demonstrate different attributes between learning styles. Which do you think you are?

I'm definitely a combination of visual and kinesthetic. Like when I studied for tests, I would reorganize my notes and re-write them (either by hand or typing). There was something about actually writing/typing out the words and seeing them on paper/screen that just did it for me.

I totally understand the need to re-write notes. There is something about physically writing something over again that makes it sink in more.

I'm definately a visual learner. Rewriting things or just listening to someone never helps me. Short attention span.

I have to touch it with my penis. Then I forever remember it. I mean, how many things to do you touch with your penis? For most people, it's limited to a few different things. For people like Sean, just your hand. If you touch something random, chances are you'll remember it.

I swear I was gonna make a topic just like this one! Yeah, my Latin teacher was out for a few days and a lady who specialized in this type of stuff decided to analyze us.

I'm a visual learner, who works in dim lighting and silence, needs to be chewing gum, and sitting in an upright chair. _smile.gif

Sorry Jane you can't use my method, but perhaps you could learn from it and develop your own.

Mixture of all three, but mostly auditory.

According to the list, I'm a mixture of all three. I'm mostly kinesthetic, but visual and auditory play a huge part too.
