First of all, do you think you can tell people how old they are by their appearance? Or, at least, is there a general impression of how a person should look like when they're a certain age?

Sometimes people (especially young teenage girls) like to dress more maturely, but their behaviour may come off as their real age. Or there might be others who act 'not of their age' but wear clothes of their own age group.

I have a friend who's 18 (Asian girl) who looks mature enough to pass off as 25, and sometimes wear clothes that resemble twenty-something women... but her behaviour automatically gives away her age. Not that I'm saying she's immature, but she's just acting like a normal 18-year-old. Do you think it's appropriate?

Share your thoughts on this.

Sometimes it's hard to tell. @__e

Some people look really young compared to how old they are, and vice versa. Sometimes it has nothing to do with their clothes or behavior.

I'm 14, look about 16 or 17, and dress appropriately. 8D But I act like a little seven year old...

Sometimes people act and look their age to me. For the longest time people thought, based on appreance, that I was younger than I really am.

Its hard to tell age from appearance nowadays. People can easily look younger or older or act younger or older or just dress a certain way. I apparently have an age range of 15 to 24. =p

I'm 16, but people almost always assume that I'm in college.
The oldest people have mistaken me for is 20.

I dress..well for school I dress casually.
But for church, recitals, etc. I can look around 18-20ish.

And since I've always found myself in situations in which there are more adults present, being mistaken for someone older works to my advantage.
I find that they tend to listen more closely to what I have to say.

Nobody really thinks I'm 13,I think it's just my personality.
I don't really dress nicely,I usually just wear jeans and some shirt,or shorts,
so I'm usually mistaken for 15 or 16 .___.

Everyone thinks I'm older than I am. I'm 18 but everyone thinks I'm 20-23. It's not a bad thing b/c people never ask for my id. I have a friend that is 22 but she's short & kind of immature so people think she's like, 16. I think it's all in the personality/confidence. I'm usually pretty laid back and I don't take a lot of crap.

Unfortunately when I open my mouth people can tell my age. Other than that I'm pretty tall so they think I'm around 15.

I can tell most peoples ages though under 18. Maybe because I know people with all those ages I'm use to how they act.

Yeah, people keep saying that. It hasn't made me feel better yet. I'd rather look my age now, and younger when I get older. You know, like Halle Berry? She seriously has a case of the Benjamin Button syndrome.

In 8th grade people used to always think I was at least in 10th grade, if not a senior. But that was before I knew anybody.

I mean, a few years ago on cB people would constantly think I was 18. In real life I don't get that as often. Nowadays I think I could pass off as 20 but with Asian girls you never really know.

My brother went to a job interview in Hong Kong last year (he's 24), and the interviewer asked him if he graduated from high school yet, LOL.
