My last post, I asked questions on what kind of computer would be best for me and I said I didn't want a Mac. Well, now I'm leaning more towards it. So I have a few questions for you Mac users.
Viruses; I know Macs don't get many viruses because most of them are made for Windows etc. Do they still need a Virus protection program such a Norton? Microsoft; I'll also be using the computer for school work and I need Microsoft Word and such. Does it work on a Mac? I can't think of anymore questions right now, but if I missed anything please let me know. (: Thanks. |

Yes, you can get Office 2008 for the Mac. The student version includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Entourage.
I use a Mac and do not use any virus protection software. I don't make the claim that Macs are immune to viruses, but as long as you don't willingly download any harmful files you should be fine. |

Only 2008 works? I have the Microsoft Office 2003 on a disk.
So even if you use the internet, you don't need a virus protection program? |

^you need a microsoft office version for mac though, not a version made for windows.
like dani, i don't use any virus protection either. i've never had any issue. i've never known anyone with a mac who's gotten a virus. |

Don't worry about 'em. Actually, Norton for the Mac is more of a security threat than a security guard. I was just wondering about the Microsoft programs because I have Microsoft FrontPage and I use that for coding. Do that have that for Macs too? |

It has some additional features that the MacBook doesn't have, but basically, yeah, it's just a beefier laptop.
Also made out of metal. |

i was pretty torn initially between a pro and the regular macbook. my pc screen was a lot bigger, so i thought the macbook 13 inch screen would be a downgrade but it really wasn't because the quality is about 29392392329329329392 times better than my HP screen.
the speakers are better/louder on the pro though imo, if that sorta thing matters to you at all javonn. |

Yeah, that actually does, as I like to blast my music. I am just really putting thought into it, because this will be replacing my pc that I have had since 04, so I definitely want to make the right investment.

Speakers are going to suck on a laptop no matter what. If it's really important, you're going to have to invest in a good set of external speakers and/or headphones, anyway.
