This is kind of an old thread, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the side hug. In most cases if I'm hugging just anyone, it's from the side, one arm and a brief pat. Someone close to me I'll hug from the front but usually unless it's an "emotional" moment I still only use one arm. xD

I guess it depends on what just happened & who I'm hugging. Like if it's an "aw" moment, I'll probably hug the person at top. But if it's just saying hi or bye, I'll hug the person on the bottom. Weird, I know.

I've only engaged in this "hugging" act once before, in seventh grade. I was reading a book in the cafeteria and not paying attention so at first I thought it was a guy trying to fight me or something.

This was a pretty good question lol, but I mostly hug with my right arm on the bottom and left hand on top. At least that's what I think.

I usually get hugged with her, whoever she happens to be, arms under, so I guess with my arms up top. Sometimes I'll get hugged around the neck though which makes my hands go to her waist. Just depends.
