Hmm, I guess it would only be mockney if it was actually an act eh? Yeah I thought it wasn't as bad as Lily Allen but still a possibility.

I also thought Rihanna's performance of Disturbia sucked. Girl has kick-ass outfits and can put on a freaking good show, but she doesn't fare well live.

EDIT// MTV makes movies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Juno. Do you really think that properly educating the delicate minds of young people is their top priority?

Uhhh i love rihanna...and i know her performance sucked. at least she sings live in all her performances. either her voice was too low or the music was playing too loud. btw im not hating on you :]

nah i can take jokes...you dont know me. its just that music is towards to everyone...so 10 years old or maybe even younger kids are watching the VMAs and suddenly they hear russel brands jokes, it digusts them. i love how jordin sparks totally shut down russel brand and promise rings...and he said sorry. THANK YOU JORDIN SPARKS!
Arguably, children 10 year olds and younger wouldn't be able to understand his jokes (nor, arguably, should they be watching the VMAs, appearances by Miley, JoBros, and Jordin nonwithstanding). And Jordin also used the word "slut." That's strong language to be presenting to 10 year olds, don't you think?

Yeah right? And I totally disagree with what Jordin said. Just because you took an abstinence vow and have a promise ring, doesn't mean you can wave it in someone's face and decide that you're better and call people sluts. And she can't take a joke.

I know you're not. My Rihanna comment wasn't even directed at you. I love Rihanna too, but the only reason I'd pay to watch her live is for the amazing show she'd put on, not her singing voice.

I can't afford a stylist either, but I would never in a million years put on some shiny granny panties and call my style vintage. I could close my eyes, ravage my hands through a random H&M rack and still look infinitely more put-together than she did. Personal style is respected and even necessary, but her particular outfit that night was just bad.

Very true. Case in point, Dita Von Teese. She doesn't have a stylist and she always always manages to look immaculate.

I don't have much money. Or a stylist. And I don't wear things like that shrug.gif FYI, she has more money than the average person.

I really did enjoy Russel; I thought he was quite funny.
I was kinda distracted though, so maybe I missed his not-so-funny ones.

On the whole, it was boring.
I was watching to see Phelps.

I don't understand the choice of location.
And the stage setup. It looked more like a big high scool gym converted into some last-minute awards show.

Russel Brand--I'm not familiar with his comedy, but I thought he did a pretty good job. He tried.
Obviously not a lot of the MTV crowd shared the same type of humor last night.

It was just..bleh.
It's been worse and worse every year.

I've been a fan of Russell's for a while now and when I heard he was hosting the VMA's I was like THIS YEARS GONNA BE AWESOME!!

...How wrong I was. lol I agree that the crowd didn't seem to be feeling him. He would make a joke and I would laugh but no one else did. _unsure.gif

The Jonas Brother promise ring fiasco was so great! I love how Russell was like "There's nothing wrong with a little sex now and then" and some of the crowd was like "WOOO!!!"

lol@ Russel Brand's "CAN-ye West"

He was awesome in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but I think it's mainly the script that fit him well. I've seen a few of his stand-up shows on youtube and he's just... not that funny.

I haven't seen the beginning of the VMAs yet, I was at my grandma's birthday party and so I DVR'd it but haven't gotten a chance to watch it, but I'm tempted to blame Russell's "un-funniness" on the difference betweeen British and American humor.

MTV is purposely letting Britney Spears win alot of awards, because this is suppose to be her "comeback" back in the music scene.

i agree with Tungster, i was like wow how lame-er can MTV get? Not that i'm totally hating on Britney but i didn't think she deserved all three of those awards.

on another note, i thought the VMAS was alright. i just think in my opinion every year its getting kinda lame. and i was kinda surprised at the place they held it at because its much smaller than what it usually is..like a huge concert hall or sthing.
