yeah i was pissed off, i missed the first 3 quarters of the game. stubborn.gif

Yeah that game was intense. Im upset because my recorder screwed up while recording the game. mad.gif

Spain reminds me of the Detroit Pistons when they had Dennis Rodman, they were dirty as f**k. This game wouldn't have been that close had the officiating been on point.

The CBC sucks more. I know because I get both channels. Their choice of coverage is such a major joke, they can spend hours showing you Rowing prelims and interview mediocre Canadian athletes, and forgo all the gold-medal matches or events that have a lot of fans, like Basketball.

There needs to be more more Olympic channels...it's ridiculous how I only have up to 3 channels to choose from, and often they're playing the SAME THING. When I was in Hong Kong, we bought a relatively cheap HD box that included 10+ channels that played the Olympics, some of them running 24 hours. I pretty much never missed anything in HK.

QUOTE(doiink @ Aug 24 2008, 04:37 PM) *
lol I love how NBC always has "LIVE" on the top right corner of the screen. All of the events I watched on NBC were recorded already so I'd just check the results online

INORITE? All events were "LIVE" at one time or another, but this is just a joke. And, us west-coasters watch events a few hours behind so we're deceived into actually thinking it's "LIVE" as well.

"NOW BACK TO OUR LIVE COVERAGE AT THE WATER CUBE!"

Our family only got one channel that covered the olympics; we were deceived into thinking that if we ordered CCTV we'd get more olympic coverage. WE WERE WRONG :(

my family pretty much spent most of their time cursing and yelling at the USA commentators lol

Did any of you see Phelps's SI cover? The 8 gold medals around his neck make it look like he's wearing a halter top, and that's weirding me out a bit.

When I scrolled down and only saw the top of that picture, I thought exactly the same thing. How misleading...

And holy shit, could there BE any uglier outifts for Canada to wear to the Closing Ceremony?!

I think the reason why CBC doesn't cover basketball or any of those more popular sports is because they know NBC will be covering them anyway. Pretty much everyone in Canada has both CBC and NBC (whether it maybe the channel 16 or channel 83 one), so having two channels covering the exact same things all the time is kind of pointless. =\

Yeah, I remember when I was in China for the 2004 Olympics, there were SO MANY CHANNELS TO CHOOSE FROM! I really really miss that...

*begin Michael Phelps rant*

You know what...? I'm tired of them hyping up his Olympic record too. I mean, it's awesome that he won 8 gold medals, but there are only two sports that allow for that kind of medal count: track and field and swimming. For example, you can only get six maximum in women's gymnastics (one team, one all-around, and then the four event finals). There just aren't enough events in the other sports at the Olympics that allow for that type of recognized excellence. He's a great swimmer, and what he did will be remembered for a long time, but I don't think he's the greatest Olympian ever, by any means.

*end Michael Phelps rant*

Edit: And those outfits are atrocious.

i can't believe the olympics are over already!

I know; they went by too fast. :(

I read this New York Daily News (I think) article saying how we'd all be sick of hearing and seeing Michael Phelps's name by the end of the Olympics. The writer was right.

I CAN'T WAIT! =D I hope they do show it on TV, I don't know what station would show it (in the States) other than ESPN. Does Canada show them all mainstream like that?

I actually missed the opening ceremony, which I regret XD I've never missed one. But I'm watching the closing now. I'm not really sure about my thoughts about it. It's alright, I kind of expected something more.

It wouldn't have made any difference to me:
1.I don't understand Chinese (when it was was sung)
2.I just liked how their voices sounded
3.Leona was very nice to look at

yeahh, with the whole "live" coverage thing..what a JOKE. everything was super delayed and when i checked the internet for specific games, all i got was a range-like they would tell me that a volleyball game would be seen somewhere from 12am-10am. uhmmm, thanks!

i still think michael phelps is super awesome.

Watching the closing right now, I wasn't in town for the opening!! And I couldn't watch cause I was up in the mountains ): ):

Oh yea...they just HAD to replay Usain Bolt again during the break. And as if Michael Phelps commercials weren't enough, they have all his family members doing commercials as well too.

YES! He looked like he got off work and was just leaving the pub after happy hour. BUTTON YOUR SUIT, YOU SLOPPY PIG, YOUR GUT IS HANGING OUT. He looked like a hot mess. And he kept on waving like a goofy idiot, and looked so awkward.

Does this help?
"A TV broadcast of the 2008 Paralympics will begin Oct. 8 and will include seven days of three-hour broadcasts. Live and delayed highlights of the Games also will be available in the U.S. online at universalsports.com from Sept. 6-17."

It's not as good as the opening ceremony.
I felt that it wasn't as streamlined-looking as the opening.

But overall, still pretty amazing.
I love the memory tower.

The British presentation was pretty clever.
I thought it reflected what urban London is supposed to be about.
