I'm not for or against that article Kryo posted, but 2 people agreeing on the article being redundant doesn't make it right to null the article in any way. Just sayin ermm.gif

Carry on. _smile.gif

I'm not nulling it, really =\ I didn't mean to. I'm just saying that James and I weren't not comprehending it.

i didn't comprehend it either. i understood the article fine, but it's not like it's not something that was obvious to begin with imo. i don't disagree with it, because it's right, people could take it that way. i do take it that way to an extent.

the article is one way of looking at it. it's a negative way of looking at it. there's a negative way of looking at any VP he could have chosen. there's a negative way of looking at basically everything in the world. the acknowledgment that the situation can be looked at not only positively but negatively...is not enlightening to me. it's common sense.

lol bullshit

You're telling me the article would have been the same if he appointed, say, Bayh or Hillary?

Talk out of your ass more.

He said similar, not the same. The point may not have been identical, but something else could have been said to the same effect.

^ Exactly.

I have no idea whether or not the article is right, and Obama's personal confidence is fading, nor do I imagine the author knows especially well, either. It may well be bang on the nose, but 'enlightening' isn't the word I'd have used for it.

More 'predictably negative,' or 'mildly interesting speculation.'

uh oh, paperplane to the rescue!

sounds like "i don't agree with the conclusions that the author is saying, so I'll cheapen it with a response that basically means 'well, that's your opinion!'"

Well, it is his opinion, isn't it? The article is speculative, that's just true. It doesn't really take much to cheapen it. Journalistic fluff.

Oh, and do stop with the rescue thing. If we're going to go through the tiresome procedure of you trying to undermine me, you'll have to do better than that. She's my friend, we agree a lot. Next!

so yep, if Evan Bayh was the nominee, the article would have been exactly the same, even though he's not a racist/old man washington insider and not seen as strong on foreign policy. The author would have been able to write ALMOST the same exact article considering those facts.

Congrats on talking out of your ass. And congrats paperplane for blindly coming to his defense.

He probably would have written a similarly negative article, yes. That being what I actually said. Should I make a comment about a lack of ability to infer meaning? Oh honestly, this is just a ridiculous conversation. Done with you now.

Oh, Carrie and JC agreed with me to an extent too... Please don't leave them out of the sarcastic congratulations, it'll hurt their feelings.

Quick: without looking at the article tell me who the author was and what organization he works with, since you obviously know his prejudices and how he'd write an article on any given person.

Oh wait, you don't and you're pulling more shit out of your ass.

Good idea to quit now before you dig yourself into a bigger hole.

Please, I'd have said the same thing in response to anyone, because you're purposefully misunderstanding the point.

He has still never said it would be exactly the same, he said similar, which is true. It wouldn't have been an article on Biden being a racist old man who's stong on foreign policy, it'd have been an article on _____ who's a ______ and strong on ______ which makes Obama seen ______. Do you think there's one person who could have become the VP nominee and not inspired articles on how he/she was a bad choice? Of course not.

yeah, i agree with carrie, james and nicki on this. i really don't see what the big deal here is since no one was even arguing the actual article. it seems that anyone who disagreed was just stating that they personally didn't find it enlightening. shrug.gif

i don't even care though because my political topic got two pages of replies so this is a good thing to me.

lol except that's not what the article is about in the first place

you're criticizing the article for not being enlightening, yet basically what you're saying is "THEIR WILL ALWAYZ BE HATERZ LOL." How insightful of you!

by his own admission he knows nothing about what the article is talking about, yet he feels the article doesn't shed light on a thing, just because he doesn't agree with the conclusion the author is drawing

sounds like you're just pissed someone wrote something negative about Obama.

Well in that case, you only find it enlightening because you don't like Obama. It works both ways.

By whose own admission? Mine? I have admitted nothing to that effect, nor am I a guy.

It's not that I have a problem with the conclusion of the article, it's just no more enlightening than any other analysis of his pick I've read.

No, I found it enlightening because I knew very little about Biden in the first place.

If you're the type of person that takes opinions as facts, you need to wake up.

Let's use some critical thinking here. I know it's a lot to expect from you, but please try.

Not worthless, but I did already know a decent amount about Biden, so there wasn't all that much more to get out of it, really. Once again, nothing to be terribly enlightened by.

And yeah, that's why unclear pronoun references are discouraged.

Yet you felt it necessary to speak on behalf of someone who didn't.

Good job!
