Survey Questions for the Everybody, but Mostly the Mods:
- Do you admit that activity was higher during cB World Language Day than most recent days?
- Was your activity risen during cB World Language Day? (If you posted a lot in this thread, you will be lying if you say no.)
- Mods only: Do you admit that you were wrong?
- Mods only: Do you admit that you blew the foreign language problem out of proportion?
- Mods only: Do you apologize for wasting my time?
- Mods only: Were you one of the few mods who saw the value in cB World Language Day?
- How are the mod/member relations right now?
- How can we improve mod/member relations?
- Mods only: When can we see some changes in who is in the staff team?
- Mods only: Looking at your activity, you contributions, and how well you communicate with the community, do you honestly think you should still be on the staff team?
- In your personal opinion, which mod got owned the most in this thread?
- Did you answer the above questions honestly and truthfully?

I'll bite.

1) I think it stood out more noticably because the threads were easily distinguished, but I don't know how much activity actually rose. Having said that, I haven't been online for most of the day, but from what I did see, that would be my assesment
2) No, it wasn't increased, although it was more concentrated in Feedback than normal. I didn't actually post in any language threads, because I'm too lazy to use a translator that frequently. I didn't spend more time on cB, or post notably more, although the discussion about cBWLD did draw much of my focus.
3) Wrong about what? I still think the use of foreign languages should be restricted in some manner, mainly to official threads. I don't think anyone was wrong to express their opinions, that in fact being the purpose of the Feedback forum. Also, as a sidenote, why is this a Mod only question? Is it completely infeasible for someone not on staff to have changed their opinion, or to have regretted something that they did? Biased questioning, methinks.
4) No, I was civil, gave the reasons behind my thoughts, and will continue to do so when issues relating to cB arrise. Again, though, I would like to ask why it is only mods who could be responsible for blowing things out of proportion. It seems to me that it generally takes two sides to make a discussion heated.
5) Absolutely not. As I pointed out to you at the time, no one but you is responsible for where you post, and you could have ignored the discussion and continued posting elsewhere if you thought your time was being wasted.
6) I don't think it will have any lasting impact, particularly, and it hasn't changed my opinion on FLs overall, which was the focus of most of my posts. If it entertained people for a day, all well and good, but I don't think it was anything more than a diversion.
7) For the most part, perfectly fine. As has always been the case, there are people who are disatisfied, but that's really not new. You can't please everyone.
8) Frankly, beats me. I think most of the issues are personal, and that if people let that go, then things would run a lot more smoothly. Again, there have ALWAYS been people who are unhappy, and that is not in and of itself a sign that we need to drastically revamp the way members and mods interact.
9) When we need to? I don't know. I'm happy with the staff team as is, at the moment, so I'm not personally going to push for changes, but these things are subject to change.
10) Yes, otherwise I would step down.
11) ...None? I think some people, mods and members, came out of that looking foolish, but that was mainly because of their own actions, not because they got 'owned' by someone else.
12) Well, yes. Why would I waste my own time (Note, waste my OWN time) lying to you?

---

Well that was fun. Nothing like completing a survey after a discussion. Maybe more paperwork is the way forward?

- Do you admit that activity was higher during cB World Language Day than most recent days?

i don't really know because i was in and out so i wasn't really paying attention. i'll admit that arjuna's activity was higher than recent days, which is always a good thing. cool.gif if we were judging based on amount of threads created, then activity was higher. then again, we should probably consider than a good chunk of the threads only got one or two replies.

- Was your activity risen during cB World Language Day? (If you posted a lot in this thread, you will be lying if you say no.)

no it wasn't, but i was more busy than normal anyway. i can say however that i am too lazy to translate all that so i don't think it woulda helped my activity be higher than normal.

- How are the mod/member relations right now?

bad.

- How can we improve mod/member relations?

the staff could reach out to form more friendships/connections with members. then again, the members could do the same. there's no one way street on fixing those relations, both sides have their problems. everyone could stop hating for the sake of hating, that wouldn't hurt. aside from that, i don't really know at the moment. i hope someone has a good way.

- In your personal opinion, which mod got owned the most in this thread?

sorry but this isn't gonna read through all that to figure it out.

- Did you answer the above questions honestly and truthfully?

- Do you admit that activity was higher during cB World Language Day than most recent days?
Really, not particularly.

- Was your activity risen during cB World Language Day? (If you posted a lot in this thread, you will be lying if you say no.)
I suppose so, but I attribute that more to putting off packing and being on the phone with James than anything else.

- Do you admit that you were wrong?
um...no? I have no problem conceding when I am, but I don't think there's even anything to have been wrong about.

- Do you admit that you blew the foreign language problem out of proportion?
I don't know, do you?

- Do you apologize for wasting my time?
No. You wasted your own damn time. Do you apologize for wasting mine? As a mod, I was at least marginally more obligated to participate in that thread than you were.

- Were you one of the few mods who saw the value in cB World Language Day?
No.

- How are the mod/member relations right now?
Not good, but we can't improve them all on our own.

- How can we improve mod/member relations?
Be more willing to compromise, and we can be as well wink.gif

When can we see some changes in who is in the staff team?
idk

Looking at your activity, you contributions, and how well you communicate with the community, do you honestly think you should still be on the staff team?
mhm...

- In your personal opinion, which mod got owned the most in this thread?
No one got owned, but wouldn't it be nice if people would stop arrogantly proclaiming their own "ownage"

- Did you answer the above questions honestly and truthfully?
this is a stupid question

yo arjuna, i'm reading the topics that you just went back to and posted what they meant in english. you made seriously good topics that would actually be really interesting and "educational". i think your holiday would have been a really legitimate/active day here on cb had the posts been in english. (or the majority of us not been too lazy to translate, i suppose that depends on how you look at it) the topics are a lot more interesting than the majority of stuff that's been made here recently

/spam

edit:
that post is kinda confusing, but i think i was saying that had it been a general foreign day rather than a foreign language day it would have been a bigger hit i think.

Ha ha, yeah, I actually did put some effort into making my topics as well as promoting world culture. Pshhh, and I bet the mods thought I was just gonna spam up cB or that I just wanted attention.

Don't worry I got what you meant. =P

Do you admit that activity was higher during cB World Language Day than most recent days?
Yeah! i havent been more active after a long time. i thought i was nearly giving up on posting ..

- Was your activity risen during cB World Language Day? (If you posted a lot in this thread, you will be lying if you say no.)

YEAH

- How are the mod/member relations right now?

I think its neutral/bad ... but I don't think it's a "very positive thing".

- How can we improve mod/member relations?
I want moderators to realize juna's good intention is to promote positive activity. Honestly, this is the FIRST TIME in a long time that something new and fresh has happen with the community as a whole (not to mentioned many members are interested in this new concept and i hope mods do not fail to see that). This is something the moderators are not too familiar with this new concept of idea. I DONT BLAME THEM FOR THEIR DOINGS. It's not easy to make decisions especially when juna fought back. I understand that.

- In your personal opinion, which mod got owned the most in this thread?
Whatever it is (actually, i'll slightly be off topic), moderators should at least take "reconsideration' if they take the moderator's/community guideline's rules seriously ... they should know much better that juna's intentions aren't meant to offend others in a serious situation or flaunting his stupidity. His intentions are for good and beneficial which many members do enjoy. What is wrong with that? Even if it was AGAINST THE RULES, he justifies his actions through threads and the arguments (which seem to be very tiring through endless pages but i didnt read entirely). Everyone should know juna better than they do Look at him... he's been on staff board for a long time and he hasn't done any bullshit (not that I heard of) however, he had received positive feedbacks as a member AND moderator.

- Did you answer the above questions honestly and truthfully?
DUH.

An addition to that, i had also promoted the day by making a lame topic regarding people's desirable choices in languages.

Do not be blown away, juna. You still have more things to challenge with the mods. They may not agree with me or you, but they cannot argue the new positive light of your new idea and concept. As long the results are positive, what more can they bitch about?

Guys...you know what might not be helping member/mod relations? Assuming that our individual dissenting opinions are because we are mods, and not because we simply disagree. Things would also go over better if instead of being "challenged" all the time, things were to be handled civilly on both sides.

Oh, don't worry. I already fully understand the concept that "the mods suck because you suck, not you suck because the mods suck."

I mean, c'mon, I was a mod too at one point and was still able to get along just fine with the community.

If you're referring to the cB World Language Day just now, it was the mods who first went around closing and deleting topics and warning us without us knowing wtf was going wrong or wtf we did wrong (which we didn't do anything wrong).

I still want my warning level lowered.

Whether i posted or not, I did enjoyed the language day because members seem to be posting more which brings more entertainment to the forum. I do hope you feel the same way as I do even if you did not "enjoyed" it.

Even if I made a lame topic myself, i made it clear in these italic texts that I contributed to juna's event.

to answer your question, of course i posted in juna's topic. laugh.gif

You're missing my point. I'd have had the exact same opinion if I weren't a mod. And it seems an awful lot like people who had no problem with before are objecting to me now only because I am one. \

I have not warned you. I have not deleted any topics. It's sheerly my opinion you find objectionable; the fact that I am a mod should be inconsequential.
