That doesn't mean that nothing said elsewhere is taken into account. If your assumption based on being a mod is that this is the case, I can only assume it was your personal tactic, and I can assure that it isn't mine, nor is it the prevailing attitude of the current staff, whatever your experiences in the past.

Fair enough. But that's not an area in which there CAN be compromise, per se. Either someone is hired or they aren't. There isn't a middle ground to be reached.

Hiring decisions have always lain with the staff, though, and primarily with the Upper Staff. That's not new. However, whenever there is a full hiring session, there is a thread made for members to discuss the decisions, which again is looked at and taken into account by those making the decisions.

Arjuna, if you wanted to declare a day on the forums, why didn't you just let the mods know. It takes less effort than throwing text into a translator. I don't have a problem with you having your day, but it would've been a lot better if you would've had one topic for each language instead of multiple topics. I personally find it pointless for you to make topics in a language that you do not understand. If an Arabic speaking person would've come across the thread they probably would've had a hard time knowing what you were trying to say. It was that way with the PM that I got from you.

This whole thing could've been avoided had you posted a topic, in English, saying what you were going to be doing before you did it.

I do declare it Official cB World Language Day, starting now to the next 24 hours. I thought it'd be a nice way to help cB become more worldly and cultural aware. Also, it happens to be very relevant with the Olympics beginning in Beijing.

Here are the rules:
- You must not use English for the whole day throughout cB, except I guess Feedback. cB uses English everyday, and it'd be nice if we get out of our comfort zone and venture new languages.
- You must put the language you're speaking in at the end of your post. So the mods don't get too ticked off and all.
